First time going to this cafe. It was a small cosy place with good ambiance. However, that's the only nice experience I had at The Oak Street Cafe.
Overall, the taste of the food was average while the price was reasonably justifying the small portion.
Started with the Japanese Curry Fried Chicken Rice, which was served way too early than the Beef Burger and the Fish & Chips. The presentation was not appetising but the taste was good.
Then, the Beef Burger. The bun and beef bacon were great but the chewy patty spoilt the whole dish.
The Fish & Chips was not fresh. It was too soft and mushy. The flaky fried fish fell apart once the fork touched it. Tartar sauce was good though.
As for the pale fries, McDonalds serves much better fries.
Above all, the service was unfortunately the worst, especially the waitress who tended our table.
It was okay if she did not like to smile but being rude is another thing. Not communicating while showing a grumpy face all the time standing beside the counter was very unwelcoming.
No one directs us to any table when we walked in so we assumed free sitting. Once we sat at a corner by ourselves, the menus was placed on the table without any words. It was okay because we need to browse through it but at least tell us that "You may order at the counter."
Simply put a large cup of hot water filled with cutlery without saying a word and left is downright unacceptable. An "Excuse me, it's hot" maybe?
Same goes to every serving, not a word when each meal was served on the table. The waitress just left the food there at the side of the table without asking who's whose.
We don't need any warm greetings or a chatty waitress or any special friendliness from the workers, but general polite manners and basic customer service will be suffice.

We did make queries first before purchasing.. usually from what we understand, if there are non halal products, it will be indicated. But we asked for the products for alcohol n non-halal items. And the answer from the staff is that, no alcohol and no non-halal items AND the chef is Muslim.
Let's dive into the review!
Food: It was yummy! Not the best in comparison to others BUT, it was good!!! We ordered mains, which we savoured the taste AND tiramisu, which we considered it be an 8 out 10... A good level of taste.. woots!! Anyway, just take a look at our plates and note that we finished almost everything 😂.. so translate that to the taste, you know how nice it would be yeahhh..
Service: Staff were full of smiles and was also very generous with their patience.. we knew that there are always challenges when you handle customers, but they handled the floor and cashiering well! Good job guys! Keep it up,!
Atmosphere: Place was really pretty and cosy. We felt comfortable and happy while enjoying our meals. There were some occasional stares to our table koz I don't think many had seen Malay ethnicity patronized the shop. So yeah, that aside, we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.
Overall: The restaurant/cafe just needed that bit of ambience to make it feel exclusive, which is the beats of the place. Songs make the place either lovely or lively. Nonetheless, we enjoyed ourselves there. Will definitely recommend...
Read moreThe location of this cafe is pretty hidden. What I mean is that it is not immediately visible from any main road. So it is quiet and peaceful.
Once you've entered the cafe, you'll be promptly greeted with plenty of Christmas decor accompanied with jazzy Christmas music. Quiet and enjoyable for a relaxing afternoon or morning breaks.
Plenty of choices for coffee or tea lover. Also theres some juicy options for those who prefer orange, apple, carrot and watermelon. For desserts, there is some cheesecake, tarts, and alot of people ordered the croissant. That is what I got along with a mocha. I love bar tables, and they have not 1, not 2, but 3 bar tables. Two which have charging outlet easily accesible. Perfect for those who needs a place to recharge.
Croissant was tasty. Crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. The salted caramel was great. I was looking at other peopke's croissant while eating mine. The inside varies, so you could get you croissant with different fillings. Give it a try when you visit. The croissaint's texture is enjoyable.
While the mocha is nice but I think it could be a bit more concentrated. However, the coffee was quite fragrant. I like the smell of it, a little sweet and a hint of coffee...
