Read moreTL;DR, a place that was a hit back then and has gone down the drain. Banana leaf set is still decent but not the service.
For such a huge place, somehow there's no printed menu when requested. Pointing fingers at the surroundings, plastered with pictures that we can't even differentiate which is which and the poor command of English or even Malay with the foreign workers are definitely exasperating. We came for a decent meal and yet was hit with a barrage of confusion. Recommendations were pointless when they can't even tell what we what or rather what are they trying to convey.
A small strip at the end was the room with a bit of AC. To escape the heat, the room was just packed. Waiting for the entire company of patrons to leave was just dreadful. To think that a reknown place like this that charges premium prices can't even make dining more comfortable by adding some ACs or encapsulate the surroundings to make it cooler. Even a mamak / nasi kandar by the street has better dining experience at a fraction of the price.
As we got the banana leaf sets. We were somewhat 'forced' to get some meats / protein with the meal. Clearly meat dishes aren't their forte. The cuts were just depressing. Are those even proper cuts or just some chicken carcass that you guys chopped up and served? Not to mention it was like less than 10 pieces of them, each around 1cm × 1cm. The portion is just pathetic. I can get better protein to price ratio with KFC. Their 'ikan bakar' / BBQ fish is just another failure. I've never ate fish that was so fishy and repulsive. Besides the sense of disgust, it was expensive. Even the teh tarik / pulled tea was just flat, instead of being frothy. Great was to screw it up a Malaysian favourite.
Service to have our sides refilled is just slow. Even with the massive workforce, things seem to flow redundantly. It takes a 3 step process and 3 different personel to get it done. What inefficiency.
Consolidate your 'invisible menu', retrain your staffs and serve better cuts of meat, don't just focus on the 'profits'. Otherwise you're just an exorbitant...
Read moretldr; A Indian cuisine place featuring amazing flavoured food, open air environment and a robot waiter! It has its own carpark and it can easily accommodate big groups of people. Recommended to all the Indian food lovers and to the ones who like to try Indian cuisine. Do give their Banana Leaf Rice a try, it is delicious!
Review:
This is THE place to get the Banana Leaf Rice. It features 3 vegetables and white rice. The vegetables are seasoned and spiced up perfectly. Each of them features a different taste and with their assortment of spices, it will definitely bring you some variety of flavours while enjoying it. As for sides I love to order their cauliflower manchurian and tandori chicken. The cauliflower manchurian packs a real punch. Aside from being very heavy in taste, it is also quite spicy, I always couldn’t get enough of it. Do note that it is quite greasy, so it's recommended to eat it with the rice. As for the tandori chicken, I don’t have much to comment on it as it is a typical tandori chicken done well.
Their service has gotten a little slower compared to the past few times I've visited here but it's not a big issue. The food still arrived in a timely manner. The robot waiter is a cute upgrade but it doesn’t add too much for the speed of service nor the quality.
Environment wise I do prefer it to be cooler but it's already an open air restaurant, do not expect it to be cool when the weather itself is hot. The restaurant is clean and very spacey, it is comfortable to dine in.
Anyways, I would recommend having a try on the Banana Leaf meals and try out their different dishes, it will be worth it!
