Probably one of the most interesting museum i ever visited. This place is full of objects from all around the world that shows how important Penang was as a trade route. But it also shows a more social aspect about life under colonial rules: How some people from Penang society tried to expose their wealth and power in order to elevate their status to the British standards. For 30 ringits, you get access to the museum and you get a guided tour. Our guide, Nicole, was so lovely and seemed really passionated about her job. She answered our questions about malay/chinese culture and gave us so many anecdotes about most of the objects exposed in the museum while linking it to a larger explanation about past and present Malaysian society. It was a pleasure spending almost 1.30 hours with her and we got out with more knowledge than when we got in. Definitely a must...

This musuem is a must see. It has a unique collection of arts and furniture that illustrate the life style of  rich merchants of Pinang in the 1900s. The villa itself is interesting. The musuem and the collection are well kept and exhibited in well organized and attractive manner. The guide speaks excellent English and was very knowledgeable and friendly. The owner welcomes the visitors herself and gave us a discount on the enterance fees. Though the full price of 30 Rm is still  reasonable fees to see such amazing collection. There is a treehouse in the yard and interesting collections of dolls with real hair. If you're in Pinang don't miss visiting this unique...

It brings us back to the past! The museum has wonderful colonial era collections. The owner spent 5 decades to collect all these from old houses and families in Penang and surrounding area. We learnt so much from Nicole, our guide, about Penang Island history and uniqueness. She passionately brought the stuff to live with her narration. It's a recommended visit to complement Straits Chinese history knowledge. All of the collections are well maintained and some has high historical value and rarity. They also have remarkable collection of non-religious high quality stained glass. It's...

Worst way to spend less then 10 minutes of time on the tour and pay for it RM30. I wouldn't call it a museum at all, rather a private collection of antiquarian without any historical value. Giede show us couple of things, turned on an old fan from Chicago and after I asked guide how all things are related to the colonial history of Penang the tour was interrupted we went out without explanation to see the house on the tree in front of the building. In couple minutes owners and guide left the property. All this happened in less then 10min. Is that a value? no it's sucks!!
