Yi Pin Xiang Bak Kut Teh Simpang Ampat — Restaurant in George Town

Tucked away behind the very busy street of Perak road, is a quite newly opened bkt restaurant. I was quite surprised arriving at 7pm and the place was empty, I gave it a shot no matter, as I would always give klang style bkt a try. We ordered 1 soup and 1 dry based bkt, along with some greens. The moment they served them on my table, I can smell the very fragrant cuttlefish and dark soy sauce from the bkt, immediately I knew this was gonna be a good one. Indeed it was very good, very close to the one I had in Klang, deep aroma and very tender meats inside. Soup based bkt was also good, more on the thick side and yet not much ajinomoto, I will come back whenever I have craving for bkt, would recommend...

Soup was alright. The pork belly is RM10 per bowl, not worth the price because the portion is rather small in comparison to other shops I had gone to. The pork belly is not fragrantful and reek of fatty parts. The pig kidney was cut into pieces that are way too small and overcooked (hard and chewy). And they don't have Chinese tofu, instead they offer seafood fishball and call it seafood tofu... I cannot accept that. We also ordered Dry Chilli Okra Pot, the taste was good but the okras are too thinkly sliced, all the seeds fell out, and got mixed up with some green chilli.

Total bill was RM70+, which I could take elsewhere to have better taste and...

A Must-Try for Bak Kut Teh Lovers!

This was my first visit to Yi Pin Xiang Bak Kut Teh at this branch, after having been to the Bukit Mertajam branch a few times — and I must say, I’ve really missed this Bak Kut Teh!

The soup was incredibly rich, aromatic, and full of herbal goodness — truly comforting and satisfying. My personal favorite is the dry-style Bak Kut Teh, which is perfectly seasoned and goes so well with rice!

The restaurant is clean and comfortable, with fast and friendly service. The staff were attentive and ensured we had everything we needed throughout our meal.
