鱼子烧卖 Siew Mai = RM6.00 水晶虾饺 Steamed Prawn Dumplings = RM6.50 蜜汁叉烧包 Char Siew Bao = RM6.00 No Service Charge
Compared to Mr Long Dim Sum that I reviewed previously, this place feels much Older and is a Larger Kopitiam. Not Air-Conditioned but still felt Airy.
What is especially notable about this place is that it has a Old Musty Odour which I feel may turn off some people. No kidding, the Musty Odour actually smells Unpleasant.
Despite that though, I actually like such an Old School Place because such Places have an Old World Charm for me especially when eating Dim Sum. Although the Musty Smell can be Distracting.
The Chilli given here tastes exactly the same as the Garlic Chilli that was used in Mr Long. In fact their so similar I wonder if they used the same supplier for this?
鱼子烧卖 Siew Mai = RM6.00 Bouncy and Juicy and it's not Overly Porky or Prawny. This tastes very similar to the ones I had at Mr Long but I feel the Meat tastes stronger here. This is also the First Siew Mai that I could taste Meat Vein 肉跟 (Meat Vein). First time taste Meat Vein in a Siew Mai.
水晶虾饺 Steamed Prawn Dumplings = RM6.50 The Har Kow Skin here not easy to break but also thankfully don't taste Doughy. I like the Orangey Hue and the Filling is Bouncy and Juicy. For this one, the Prawn Taste is slightly strong. Still, Not Bad actually.
蜜汁叉烧包 Char Siew Bao = RM6.00 I think this is probably the Smallest Dim Sum Char Siew Bao I've had so far. I like the skin, and while it isn't the Super Fluffy type, it isn't the Dry until Stick to Throat type. The Filling is not red but more brownish and it's Sweet but Not Overly Sweet and tasted just nice. It's also very Thick and Gooey, just the type I like. Other than the colour, I like this filling. The only issue I have is that this really is very Small Sized.
I love the Fact that they used Old School Bamboo Containers to serve this instead of the Modern Plastic Type as they really add to this Place's Old World Charm. Other than Pin Ming Xuan who uses the Same Old School Container to serve their Char Siew Bao, all other Dim Sum Outlets all use the Modern Plastic Type.
The Serving Chap was quite Amusing tho. He is a Friendly Chap, but when serving the Dishes to me, he looked Visibly Unsure and Very Confused as to whether he served the right thing even tho I was the Only Customer at that time. I even had to point to the Menu to show what I ordered. Probably a New Guy who is inexperienced and very new to the job.
Compared to Mr Long Dim Sum nearby, at least the Staffs here never rush to clear my plates even when I was still Eating. This place feels more Old School and Relaxing to enjoy Dim Sum.
I hesitate to give Top Score to this place though because of the Inexperienced Serving Staff and the Unpleasant Musty Smell which may turn off some people. I eventually got used to the smell tho by end of the meal.

Read moreRestoran Yu Pin offers a diverse array of dim sum that caters to a variety of tastes. Situated in a bustling part of town, the restaurant boasts an extensive menu, and while it may not hit the culinary heights of some other establishments, it does have its own charm. One of the standout features at Yu Pin is the sheer volume of dim sum options available. The menu is expansive, providing a wide selection that can satisfy different preferences. The generous portions also catch the eye, making it a good value for those who enjoy hearty meals without breaking the bank. The overall quality of the food at Restoran Yu Pin is decent, although it doesn't reach exceptional heights. The stir-fry and fried selections outshine the steamed options, offering a more satisfying experience. The large portions against the price make it a reasonable choice for those seeking their money's worth. Among the dim sum choices, the Har Kao steals the spotlight, offering a delightful combination of flavours and textures. In comparison, the Siew Mai falls slightly short in terms of taste. The baos, while not exceptional, still manage to pass as acceptable. They might not be the show's star, but they won't disappoint either. Two items that garnered consensus among our party were the Mai Kai and carrot cake. Both dishes were impressed with their flavours and execution, providing a pleasant surprise amidst the mixed reviews for other dim...

We ordered 红油抄手,南瓜饺子,and some special tofu thing, but all of them tasted like an artificial chewy meatball. 红油抄手 is usually made with pork meat dumpling, but what we had was like a Fishball in siew mai shape... 流沙包 had a nice flowy custard (appreciated the egg yolk taste of it), but the skin was too thick and diminished the entire experience. Saving grace was the 鸳鸯肠粉, which tasted like what it should be.
Won’t recommend, save your stomach space for breakfast...
