Located remotely from a major city yet conveniently close to the golf courses we're playing on today, this place stands out as one of the finest options nearby, offering bold and flavorful dishes. The curry-infused pork ribs and clams truly stole the show with their distinct taste. The prawns fried in a special sauce are a delightful accompaniment to glasses of beer. Don't miss out on the steamed batin fish, as it showcases the fish's freshness and tender, fatty meat. The claypot chicken with wine carries rich flavor, although it's best enjoyed with a few beers. The otak is decent, while the steamed sea snail is passable. Skip the hot plate tofu if other choices beckon. Unfortunately, the fried bee Hoon doesn't quite match its menu claim of a charred style – it could use more charring. The fried oyster egg turned out a bit too dry for my liking. While the fried garlic chives are tasty, adding bean sprouts could bring balance if cooked longer. The fried butter lettuce with fragmented tofu left me unimpressed; the veggies were overly cooked. Service was adequate and attentive, though they did charge corkage for our brought drinks, which could have...
Read moreThis is a branch of Tian lai whose main branch is at Gelang Patah. This is the first time I’m visiting this branch. We came at 6pm for dinner and the restaurant was already packed. Not many parking lots available around the restaurant. There were two areas, one with air conditioning and the other without. We chose the inside seatings and was lucky that one table was leaving. Or else the entire inside area was packed. It was simply unbelievable how popular this restaurant is. At 6pm and the restaurant was already filled up.
Ordered a fried sea bass with soy sauce, one lala in soup, one stirfry kailan with garlic and the sweet and sour pork. All dishes were outstanding and there wasn’t any misses. It was really busy and therefore services was sketchy, but completely understandable.
Restaurant was very typical of most eating places in Malaysia and nothing really much to share about it. Prices were reasonable in our opinion but I guess comparing to other places may be slightly higher.
If you are simply looking for a good tze char place, you should come to...
Read moreOne of the best seafood restaurants in JB.
While there are many seafood restaurants both on and off the beaten path that one can choose here, Tian Lai is probably one of the most consistent and delicious.
Location is very convenient as it is just on the fringe of Bukit Indah and I have never had issues finding parking nearby.
The staff are extremely friendly and will always make amazing recommendations.
Full stars on the atmosphere as well as when you go to a Malaysian seafood restaurant, this is probably as authentic as you can go. Very clean and hygienic as well.
While everything on the menu is delicious, I highly recommend the soups, fried beehon, crab and lobster.
Besides taking a 2 hour drive to Super Lobster in Desaru, this is probably your best bet in getting a reasonably priced, absolutely stunning lobster that can feed an entire village.
Tian Lai is an institution when it comes to eating in JB, would highly recommend anyone and everyone to...
