The hostel is near Puteri Harbour via Grab or Uber and is in a good neighborhood. There is 7-11 downstairs (hostel is located upstairs) and a very good restaurant where they serve really good dishes (I had an amazing chicken rice meal). My issue is with the hostel itself. Having informed them of my late check in, I specifically stated 2am onwards (I was coming from KLIA by bus) to which they postively replied, I expected them to keep their word that they will wait for me. Horror of horrors, at 230am, I was locked out of the hostel. It took me 30-40 minutes to have them open the hostel. I had to call all numbers stated in the (hotel) voucher as well as that posted on the hostel door using my cellular international roaming phone. The nice clerk at 7-11 and a local guy helped me out and helped me keep on calling the several phone numbers (to avoid any more roaming phone charges). After some time, a sleepy and grumpy person answered my phonecall. Minutes more passed and a similarly sleepy and grumpy (presumably) manager opened the door and allowed me in. Both insisted that it was my fault (yes, I was berated for my late arrival) to arrive so late but I had to be quick to remind them that they were informed and in fact replied regarding my late arrival. Harrassed and tired I was just happy to have a bed to rest in. After a few winks I checked out. The manager apologized as I was to check out. I have stayed in hostels before but this experience was the worst. Also, the smell of feet and odorous shoes will greet you once you step in the hostel as you are instructed to leave the shoes by the door. The toilets are in dire need of repair although the hot shower was good. The sheets, pillow and blanket smelled of previous occupants. Sheets smelled and had stains and the bed had hair strands. The saving grace for my long journey to JB was the breakfast at the downstairs resto. Please rethink your choice of...
Read moreI must be having a trip to Singapore before I board to Doha, Qatar, but I am having quite a limited budget so I made a research, that made me decided to have a longer stay in Johor Bahru instead. I searched for budget hotels, and Warm Blanket Hotel bests suits my staggering financial resources.||||Here are some of the negative points that I have noted in my stay. Location was very confusing, the wifi location is not congruent with the exact one. I had a bus ride from SG to JB, stopping at at the location the GPS has indicated. I walked around the area but I couldn't find it. I kept looking for it until I reached Aeon and decided to go to a taxi who knows were the hotel is, and drove me there. (In my mind I wasted a couple of bucks which must be alloted for my food). The walls of the hotel have some cracks, but they are not significant for me. The staff could hardly speak English (but I think they can understand a bit of Basic English). Another problem that I have encountered was the toilet, It was type usually used by Muslims, thus I had a hard time defecating, and they are typically for sharing. Have not seen a room with an attach bathroom, so basically when you are in the hallway, you could possibly see a person covered with a towel, which is kinda awkward for me (happened to me twice during my stay).||||However, the staff were so nice. I have told the situation and they gave me a discount on my 4 day- 3 night stay and upgraded me to a double bed. The room was organized and neat, and the toilets were properly maintained as well, I had a good uninterrupted sleep during my 3 nights there.||||I also had fun around the area because it is near Aeon Mall, and a lot of hawker restaurants (which made me more happy because I am a foodie)||||Overall, the happy moments and good points outweighed the hassle that I have...
Read moreMy husband and I and 2 children stayed here for 3 nights as its close to Lego Land.||||When we first arrived shoes need to come off and be left at the front door however walking around bare feet on dusty floors wasn't something we enjoyed. When we got in the room it smelt of old pee.||||On our second night someone was smoking in a nearby room which filled our room. Being a hostel we could understand the casual chit chat early hours of the morning but people were literally yelling at all hours of the morning and the walls are paper thin you can hear someone cough or sneeze.||||Every time we used the bathroom the toilet was covered in water from someone using the shower or covered in pee. You need to use the shoes provided to enter the toilet which we didn't like. ||||We aren't a family to complain and are happy with anything but this was unacceptable as a family. If you are single or couple this would be fine. The staff are beyond helpful and friendly. It is very close to Lego Land 10min max taxi ride. Just make sure its metered. ||||Your taxi will find it very hard to find so if you can put into your GSP or like our driver they are quite happy to drive around and around and charge you for it as well.||||Another bonus is wifi...
