烧卖 Siew Mai (小点) = RM6.50 虾饺 Har Gao (大点) = RM6.80 Fried Carrot Cake (炸点) = RM6.50 叉烧包 Char Siew Bao (包点) = RM3.00
No Service Charge
When I arrived, even on a Thursday Morning at 8.30am, it was filled up with people even though it wasn't Full House. I can't imagine how crowded it would be on a Weekend. It has a Very Old School Kopitiam Look and is quite Big utilizing its Alleyway by the Side to make an Additional Outdoor Eating Area.
烧卖 Siew Mai (小点) = RM6.50
There are Various Different Types of Siew Mai and I just randomly picked one. Size is noticeably Small, and it was Very Hot with a Bouncy and Juicy Texture. Although made from Pork, the Porky Taste is Very Mild and I thought it tasted more Prawny than Porky. Skin was thin and fragile. This is an Above Average Siew Mai.
虾饺 Har Gao (大点) = RM6.80
Bouncy and Juicy to the Bite and I like that the Filling within is filled very Full with Large Pieces of Prawns. Skin was not too thick nor too thin and was just right. Again, an Above Average Har Gao.
Fried Carrot Cake (炸点) = RM6.50
THIS was the one that many people raved about and I agree. The Skin is Crispy and Light, but it was the Beautifully Soft and Almost Creamy Melt in the Mouth Cake Meat Texture that does it for me. In addition, there is a Very Fragrant Taste of Shallot Oil within that brings this over the Top.
The Only Other Carrot Cake Meat that has this Super Soft Melt in Mouth Texture I've eaten so far in JB is "Changman Dimsum" in Bukit Indah. This is a MUST TRY if you are here!
叉烧包 Char Siew Bao (包点) = RM3.00
Quite a Big Sized Bao, the Bun is Soft and Fluffy and has a a Melt in Mouth Texture. The Char Siew Meat is cut in slightly larger pieces than normal and the Lovely Sticky Not Too Sweet Sauce pairs very well with it. Another MUST TRY if you are here!
Why did I give a Low Score for this Place?
When I first arrived and before my Butt was seated on the Seat, this Auntie who mans the Bao Section came bombarding me with all sorts of information. When I politely asked her to repeat what she said, she gave me an Extremely Irritated Look.
I then asked her politely if she had a Menu that I could look thru, and her reply to me was a Very Aggressive and Angry Tone practically shouting: "没有MENU! 我就是 MENU!" What the hell is her problem?
As I was seated at the Outside Alleyway area which was More Cooling, and as I was eating, I smelt Cigarette Smoke and literally right beside me was a Staff Member puffing away on his Cigarette, chatting on his Phone and blowing his Smoke towards my direction.
The same Aggressive Auntie that snatched away my plate after I finished my Bao. She didn't snatch away other empty plates or Bamboo Baskets that I had, just that particular plate that held the Bao. I even caught her giving me a Glare while she snatched it away.
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
That Hostile Aggressive Auntie Staff really SPOILT MY MOOD for this place. Worse of all, with the way she behaved, I think she may be the Owner of this place. This is the reason why I'm Very Wary of Eateries that are Popular, because alot of times, when a place is Successful, the Owners usually will adopt an Arrogant Guai Lan Attitude towards Customers.
Because to such Business Owners, they don't really care if you are not happy with their Customer Service, as they have PLENTY of other Customers just BEGGING to eat at their place because they're Popular. 多你一个她过年,少你一个她也过年.
As for the Quality, while some of them are good, there are plenty of other Eateries in JB that also have Good Tasting Dim Sums. You don't really have to come here specially just to eat this.
This place may be Popular with Singaporeans, but I personally cannot recommend it. Not a place I would return to again i'm afraid, I hope you have a better experience here than I did.

Read moreIf you have no choice and craving for dim sum, away from the Singaporean crowd in jb, can consider coming here for dimsum. Although long queue but the queue number moves quite quickly. Took about 20 mins of wait to move through 10 queue. Numbers. Some times must share table with people. It’s quite chaotic and that’s where they lose out in terms of people wanting to order more. Sometimes don’t know who to talk to for orders, could operate push cart style if they wanted but they prefer if you ask them for the item and sometimes if you don’t need the item you want, and you don’t see it, you can’t order it. I must say the big Pao is huge and filling! Atmosphere is almost the worst and uncomfortable spots cos you have to squeeze with other tables and people. Sitting arrangements are so fluid in nature. If your tolerance is high and don’t mind a little chaos during your peaceful dimsum, come check it out. Prices ain’t that cheap but it’s better than the sutera dimsum and worth the...
Read moreHonestly, I would rather pay more to go to a relaxed air conditioned place to have dim sum. We were here on a very sunny day and we were given an outdoor seat. It was really unbearable having to sit outdoor to eat dim sum. This is really an old school dim sum so don’t expect too fanciful dim sum.
Char Siew Bao 4 out of 5 - the bun taste good but the meat is overly minced and the skin too thick. Lotus paste bun 4 out of 5 - the lotus paste taste good but the bun was too thick. Fried Carrot Cake 3 out of 5 - the carrot cake was not fried to order so it was slightly cold but still crispy. Century Egg Porridge 2 out of 5 - there was nothing in there except porridge. Steamed Prawn Rice Roll 4 out of 5 this was good and it would be better if they could separate the chilli sauce The rest of the items were steam upon your ordering but they were not steamed very hot so they didn’t taste as good.
Overall, it was value...
