recently visited this kbbq spot near CIQ and opted for the 2 pax set C. loved the attentive serviceāthe staff handled the grilling for us, ensuring that the meat was cooked to perfection without us having to do any of the work.
food wise, the steamed egg: light and fluffy in texture, but unfortunately, it lacked seasoning and tasted quite plain. the meat: the beef brisket was definitely my favātender, flavorful, the rest of the meats were good as well. jjapagetti: egg on the side was a little well cooked, would prefer if the yolk was runny also a little dry, a little more sauce would have improved the texture. cheese tteokbokki: this dish leaned heavily towards fishcake and everything else. with like a 60% fishcake to 40% rice cake ratio. scallops: not a fav. something about the texture or seasoning didnāt quite hit the mark for usā¦
overall, the experience was well worth the price. the generous portions ensured that we were full for the entire day, and the free-flow side dishes and complimentary ice cream were a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTried Jang Won yesterday afternoon as our favourite Korean restaurant Doma was closed. Food items were premium priced (about RM75 to RM100 per beef set, so you expect premium quality). Sorely disappointed.
Different food items were average at best. Disappointing at worst.
ALL marinated meats were too sugary (they tasted like candy meat). It was near inedible.
Jjapchae was a sugary and sloppy mess, by volume it was like 40% starchy gravy and 60% noodles and other ingredients. Normal Jjapchae should be nearly dry on the outside. We ate less than half of the Jjapchae and left the rest untouched.
Banchan was not bad, but so many items were sugary (honey coated egg tofu, honey coated pumpkin, sweet crispy anchovies). In hindsight, that was an early hint at the chef's sugary palate.
Service crew were good. Credit where credit is due.
Paid a total of RM506 for this disappointing meal. Will not return. For reference, that's about 2x the price we usually...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's one of the best Korean bbq restaurant in Johor Bahru. The price are reasonable, food are fresh and delicious.
We have been having our meals there since they started their biz more than a decade ago. The Korean boss will be at the store to ensure food quality and service level is there.
Our favourite is the ox tongue and beef bulgogi, even our girls of 2 and 4 years old loves them. Each time we will be served with around 10-15 site dishes at no extra charges.
Thumbs up. Only thing is the car park is hard to get, though you can always park at the open air car park across the road.
No lift to access to the restaurant located on the 2nd floor.
23/07/2019 We visited Jang Won again, but we didn't see the familiar face who served us before.
The food quality and quantity maintained the same...
