Claypot Fish Head (No Rice) = RM60.00 No Service Charges
This is a Tze Char Seafood sort of Place that looks like its been around for many years. When I arrived at 10.00am on a Saturday, there were no other Customers except me. The Interior Dining Area again gives me an Impression that this place has been around for Many Years 有年代感. I'm surprised that they do have Air-Conditioning within but it wasn't turned on when I was there.
I'm impressed that they bothered to turn Aircon on for me, even when I was the Only Customer ordering only 1 Dish from them. Most other Restorans will probably not have bothered and just ignored me to save money on Aircon Fees, so Kudos to them.

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
Lets address the Biggest Elephant in the Room. The Price of this Dish.
The Price of RM40.00 (S$12.30) which Johorkaki paid in 2016 felt more Palatable compared to Today's 2025 Price of RM60.00 (S$18.50). Inflation is a Scary Thing. I personally feel that this is the Biggest Main Barrier of Entry for this Dish especially because its only Half a Fish Head, not a Full Fish Head for this Price.
What I am impressed with are the Customer Service. They were Nice and Friendly and the Fact they bothered to turn on Aircon for me, their Only Customer at that time was Admirable.
I am also impressed with the Overall Quality and Taste of the Dish. Eating it tells me that Everything was done with Care, and from a Culinary Viewpoint, I thought Every Ingredient were specifically Chosen to fulfill its Unique Function to support the Dish on a Whole. I have even eaten from 2 Places before this place and yet I can Cleanly Finish Every Single Drop of this Big Claypot Fish Soup is evidence of how much I enjoyed this place.
Actually i feel this will fit 2 People with Normal Appetites or 3 Ladies with Small Appetites or of course just 1 Guy like me also can if you have a Good Hearty Appetite.
But all these Good Points still doesn't deny the fact that the Dish itself cost RM60.00 (S$18.50) which I feel is on the High Side even as a Singaporean.
If you consider that the Lunch Promo Price of Lee's Signature Fish 小李酸菜鱼 at RM58.00 (S$17.50) I ate previously at Aeon Mall Tebrau City with 19 pieces of Fish, it actually slightly cheaper and is even located in a Modern Airconditioned Mall although of course to be fair, it is a Completely Different Style of Preparation.
If a Modern Mall can provide a Lunch Promo at RM58.00, how can a Kampung Style Eatery like this compete by charging RM60.00 even if its a Different Style of Preparation?
What I am concerned is the 冷清清 Lack of Customers even at 11.00am on a Saturday Afternoon. Not sure if this is considered normal or not, but this was the situation when I was there. Perhaps its the High Price that I mentioned?

Read moreWe ordered bak kut teh, "咸鱼花腩煲" (salted fish pork belly claypot), "脆皮鸡" (crispy skin chicken), and stir-fried spinach. All the dishes exceeded our expectations in terms of taste. The "咸鱼花腩煲" stood out as the most flavorful dish with its fragrant salted fish. The "脆皮鸡" truly amazed us with its crispy skin and tender, juicy meat. They only serve chicken with thigh and drumstick, which was perfect for us as we prefer those cuts over chicken breast.
The bak kut teh was also delicious, and we particularly enjoyed the bean curd skin in it. The herbal soup had just the right balance of flavors. As there were four of us, the portion sizes were just enough for our group. The prices were reasonable, considering the quality of the food. We definitely plan to return to try their other signature dishes.
It's worth mentioning that the boss, or main chef, cooks right in front of the shop. He was very friendly and greeted us with a nice smile, adding to the pleasant...
Read moreRecommended by a friend. First time for me so a little hard to find my way here so better to use a GPS in Johor, Malaysia. Luckily I came after lunch time crowd has left. This rustic little eatery is famous for fish soup. And I saw lots of reviews on fish dishes. But we ordered a herbal BKT for two, clay pot Pork legs and a simple plate of sprouts. Two rice and drinks. Total about Rm 75. Herbal BKT does not have an overpowering herb smell to it which is good. There are lots of ‘tau kee’ added to the ribs, liver and pork belly. The ribs were tender. The soup was really tasty. And they will refill the soup upon request. The pork legs were slightly rubbery for my taste. And not much meat. But lots of collagen. You can choose the lesser fats part. Bean sprout fried with salted fish was appetising and fragrant. Overall satisfying. And good that they installed air condition in...
