I recently visited a Starbucks branch for a simple take-away coffee and brought along my personal 12oz tumbler, as I often do to reduce waste. Before ordering, I politely asked the staff a straightforward question: āWhat is the capacity of a Tall size?ā I simply wanted to check if the Tall would fit in my tumbler.
What happened next was quite unexpected and, frankly, disappointing. Instead of receiving an answerāor even a simple, āIām not sureāāthe staff looked at one another, laughed, and repeated the word ācapacityā in a mocking or amused tone. I found this reaction both unprofessional and discourteous. It wasnāt until I gave them a clearly displeased look and remained silent that one of them finally checked the bottom of the Starbucks cup for the size informationāsomething that could have been done in the first place.
For the record, I do remember the names of the three staff involved. However, I will not mention them hereānot out of indifference, but out of compassion and understanding. They seemed quite young, and I suspect this may be more a matter of immaturity or lack of training than ill intent. Although I was tempted to write directly to Starbucks HQ, Iāve chosen instead to simply share my experience here, in the hope that it serves as gentle feedback for future improvement.
Iāve always seen Starbucks as a brand that represents warmth, professionalism, and customer respect. Thatās why this moment stood out to meānot for its severity, but because it felt so out of place with the values Iāve come to associate...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAsked for no whipped cream on my drink, gave me whipped cream. Asked if thereās chocolate powder shaker at self service counter, told me yes, but end up only cinnamon powder shaker. When buying the drink, the cashier asked me if I wanted to add macaron cookie bits. Honestly, the way he asked me was like as if it was a free add-on, perhaps itās my fault for not asking if it was FOC. So then I thought that in JB the extra toppings are free and just happily got them but in the end its reflected in my receipt that they were extra charges. š The macaron was also not cookies bits it was one whole macaron hence why when he told me ācookie bitsā I thought it was free because cookie bits are just bits, (imo doesnāt cost much to be chargeable).
Kind of disappointed because I felt like everything was misleading. (no chocolate powder, toppings are actually chargeable, gave whipped cream when asked for none, macaron cookie bits is actually just one whole macaron)
So for Starbucks newbies just to let you guys know toppings are chargeable!! I just thought they were free because the cashier didnāt tell me they were chargeable plus back in SG none of the cashiers ask if we want toppings (since if you want it you tell the cashier yourself since itās chargeable). And the macaron bits is actually one whole macaron charged...
