Not worth a try, there are definitely better chai poh fish restaurants in Alor Setar. The fish was tasteless and not fresh at all, it seemed like sweet chai po was just used to cover up the blunt flavor. There were also many flies around, and customers were still being seated outdoors even though the area smelled rancid and unpleasant. I dined alone, which might be why I was placed outdoors, but it really affected the experience. When I gave feedback to the staff, they did not seem to take it seriously.
Reply: Thanks for your reply, but I think it’s unnecessary to argue with customers who share honest feedback. I didn’t ask for compensation or replacement, I just wanted to highlight the hygiene and freshness issue so it can be improved. It’s understandable that solo diners get smaller tables, but placing customers outdoors where it smells rancid and has flies really affects the dining experience.
Also, how am I supposed to order more dishes when I’m dining alone? Feedback shouldn’t be dismissed just because I came by myself or didn’t order a lot. A good restaurant listens and improves, not blames the customer. Hope you understand and don’t take it the wrong...
Read moreThis is almost the best Chinese restaurant I've been to, even when compared to others of a higher price point. Not only is the famed 'Cai Bor Hu' nice, all the other dishes are equally good in their own ways. No idea how they cooked the fish but even after being served for a while, the inside of the fish is still steaming hot. The tofu is crispy on the outside, full of taste on the inside, and paired with the sauce it's so good. Same goes to the lala, it's so succulent and well cooked, unlike other lalas that i get from other places. All in all, i will come back again and again for the food here. Definitely worth the 1.5 hours travel from...
Read moreWant to place order, hands up waving but the staff look at me and turn her head away chit chat with other staff beside her, obviously she’s telling me not her job to take order. Hence I got to wave until the other staff saw me. Food wise are a bit disappointed, taste not good as before especially the Chai Po fish. La La are so small but I understand it’s beyond their control, I rather they tell me don’t have La La so I don’t get a plate of shell instead of La La. Gong Pou mantis taste good, recommend. Overall I think there are still room for improvement, too much advertising by...
