Tried nasi kukus for the first time in Malaysia, and tbh, it’s just rice... but different? The texture, aroma, and taste hit a lil’ different compared to rice cooker rice, probs ‘cause of the cooking method.
But the real star? THAT AYAM REMPAH. Insanely good—super rich in spices, yet somehow juicy and perfectly cooked. The curry-ish gravy was super tasty and balanced, not too heavy but still packed with flavor. The sambal belacan? Took the flavors to a whole new level. The whole vibe felt so authentic too. Super affordable, but I totally forgot the price.
They also have nasi kerabu, that pretty blue-purple rice—tastes great too! And don’t sleep on the additional fried egg. Crispy edges with a slightly runny yolk? Perfection....
