I will try my best to be as objective as I can as this is my first Google review. I was actually quite excited to come try the food here for dinner, seeing how nice the ambience was from the outside + the seemingly positive Google reviews. However, upon ordering, my family and I were met with an unpleasant surprise – it took nearly 30 minutes for the first dish to arrive, and another 15 minutes for the next (aglio olio). Upon reading other reviews of this place, I found out that apparently there's a sign outside the restaurant stating that the waiting time will be much longer due to the limited crew. So if you like to wait, this is the best place for you to carry out that hobby.
I tried staying positive after waiting for so long, but when the first dish came -- lamb chop -- it had such a thick layer of oil on the top of the meat. At that point, I was still like, okay, at least it's still edible, and the potatoes were actually good. But then came the second dish -- the Salmon Aglio Olio. Actually, it was more like they served me oil and decided to be nice and add pasta in it. The pasta was SWIMMING IN OIL (please refer to pics attached). When we asked one of the younger waitresses whether this amount of oil was normal for the dishes, she simply said in Mandarin "yeah, it has always been like this". It was weird because the pasta itself was undercooked. The final blow was the last dish, the Prawn Aglio Olio. The waiter had come and place the dish on our table and I noticed that there was this huge, black furry object sitting nicely on the side of the aglio olio. Guess what, it was a thick layer of black dust. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of it because I was so traumatised, and also because I immediately called another waiter to ask what that was. He said "ohh, might be the dust from the fans above". No apology or at least an acknowledgement came from that original waiter too. The second waiter then came and told us that the chef will be recooking that dish. I'm not gonna accuse anyone of anything, but that plate of prawn aglio olio came 5 minutes after the waiter said it was going to be recooked (the usual waiting time for food is 30 mins :)).
At the end of the day, this is mine and my family's experience at this restaurant. We cannot speak for everyone else, as this place has also had its fair share of good reviews. But what I have learnt from this lesson is to read both the GOOD and the BAD reviews and discern on my own from there. Thanks for reading if you see this, and I genuinely wish Red Tomato the best, and hope that they are able to hire more cooks, and not drench their aglio olios with...

Read moreReally have to comment on this cafe. We came here because of popular recommendation. But unfortunately it’s very disappointing.
We waited almost 2 hours for the food. From 1030am to 12pm. Bear in mind it’s not even crowded yea. There were many empty spaces when we came.
When we tried asking for the order, they never check but just asked us to wait but we kept on seeing other ppl who came later got served. Then the boss came over and said our order went missing and had to retake order, after 1.5 hours of waiting. No apology was given.
He did served us some plain bread with butter after, I guess that’s his way of apologising, not sure.
Food wise is not worth the wait. It is just normal British breakfast food with expensive price tag. Their breakfast style is stir fry breakfast, not very impressive. I guess the negative feeling for waiting too long and hunger doesn’t make us taste the food any better so I might be biased.
Would have gone to better breakfast place honestly. My tour guide was surprised at the food and service quality as well, I guess covid has changed them a lot.
Note: the reason why it’s so slow is because there’s literally only one person in the kitchen. She’s a superwoman but unfortunately the experience is not great. I hope they could hire more at least when things are coming...
