A very delicious Hainan style chicken rice.
If you drive here, park at Basement 2 (near to Decathlon) in The Scott Garden. It’s just a 3 minutes walk from the parking to the shop.
We reached at noon, and the store quite packed, but the service is superb & efficient. The time it’s take from taking order to getting the food on the table is fast, below 10 minutes if i recall correctly.
Let’s talk about the food
The Chicken Rice As per picture, my wife ordered 1 roasted wing chicken rice (RM 12.00) and I ordered 1 thigh steamed chicken rice (RM 13.00).
The rice is fragrant and you can taste it’s wholesomeness grain by grain.
The soup tasted just nice and not too overpowering, you have a taste of chicken essence at the end.
If you’re not a fan of spicy, do not put too much of the red sauce or it will make your dish spicy and have a bit of kick.
The chicken is the best, we love both roasted and the steamed. Should you want with bigger portion, do go with the wings ya as they are a bit bigger.
If I want to rate the chicken rice, it is as below (1 being low & 5 being the highest):
Presentation ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Taste ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Price ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Portion ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fried Wantan (RM 9.00) Do forgive us about the Fried Wantan as we already eaten 2 before the picture was taken 😅.
The shell is crispy and not oily. The fillings are generous. In terms of taste wise it’s nothing special.
If I want to rate the fried wantan, it is as below (1 being low & 5 being the highest):
Presentation ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Taste ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Price ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Portion ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
In general, this is a great place to have a delicious and worthwhile Hainan chicken rice. I do recommend to come and try it out yourself here, hence with the rating I gave just now. Would surely come here again.
One thing I would like to complain is this one arrogant and lazy staff who just fell asleep when we’re here (the...
Read moreI will give my personal review on this since all comments are superficial.
Those Micheline are not trusted. Believe your own taste buds. Thought their taste buds suit majority of us. You are wrong. Maybe they haven't taste good nasi ayam yet.
The food is disappointed. The chicken are succulent but even ordered breasts but serves with bones too. They put it on cucumber to look as if they had volume but once you pick it up then you are realise it's just thin layer of chicken.
Let's be real 1 chicken breast you ordered not 1 chicken breast or even half. Maybe quarter or even smaller portions 1/6 of the breast itself. Soo small n thin. They smash it to spread it. Nasi also small but depends on you to eat carb or not.
Taste is very thin. Not even taste the soy sauce, salt or seasoning in their soup or food. Even salted egg also didn't taste salted. But that one okaylah B- I would say. Just a normal food served for patients at hospital.
Price wise not money value. Remember 15 ringgit you can whole full plate of food but small portions of rice n over exaggerated chicken volume on top of cucumber won't beat it.
If you had chicken rice else where you can get 40% more or less cheaper with more side dishes n volume. I calculated it because still have the last receipt.
2 things I could give a positive comments are the kopitiam environment n fast service from the team. Just took 5 mins for orders to arrive. Kudos.
At last I'm not their target market. Good luck to...
Read moreThe menu is straightforward, with a focus on their signature dish, Hainanese chicken rice, which is prepared with perfectly cooked rice, tender and juicy chicken, and a delicious blend of herbs and spices. The dish is often served with a variety of sides, including cucumber slices, chili sauce, and a flavorful sauce. The quality of the food at Nasi Ayam Hainan Chee Meng is the best. I especially like the flavor and tenderness of the roasted chicken. The restaurant also offers other dishes.
In terms of service, the staff at Nasi Ayam Hainan Chee Meng are friendly and attentive, providing prompt and efficient service to customers. However, as the restaurant is often quite busy, customers may have to wait for a table during peak hours.
In summary, Nasi Ayam Hainan Chee Meng is a must-visit restaurant for anyone who loves Hainanese chicken rice or is looking to try it for the first time. The quality of the food is excellent, and the prices are reasonable. The restaurant's simple but cozy atmosphere and friendly staff add to the overall dining experience.
