If someone were to tell you there's a 24-hour dim sum restaurant in town, you might retort: "Don't believe!"
And if he were to add that all dim sum items are sold at a flat rate of RM3.50 per plate, you'd add: "Absurd!"
Believe it or not, absurd or not, that's exactly what Restaurant Yan Yang in Old Klang Road is doing. And it's been doing it for the last 26 years to boot. For a long time, it used to be only RM2.80. RM3.50 was only since recent years.
All 31 dim sum items on the list are available piping hot and/or crispy at RM3.50 a plate anytime of the day, round the clock. That includes a plate of three pieces of charsiu bao!
Except for the fish balls - both steamed and fried - which were rather small and not of regular dim sum quality, I didn't really have any issue with the flavour and quality of the rest of the dim sum items that I had - siew mai, charsiu bao, glutinous rice, fried yam dumpling, steamed pork ribs and yan wong bao.
Having said that, one cannot, in all fairness, expect the dim sum here to be in the same league as the other big name dim sum restaurants. Not with the economy price that it's charging.
The restaurant is fully air-conditioned and occupies a space equivalent to the size of four shop lots with plenty of seating capacity.
Besides dim sum, ala carte Chinese cuisine dishes are also available. But not at RM3.50 obviously!
The owner, 68-year old Mr Foong, is an influential person with a legendary past. You can read about him in the clippings on the wall and even meet him in person at the restaurant.
So, now you know where to satiate your dim sum cravings in those wee hours.
Toilet Score: Usual restaurant standard.

Read moreCheapest dim sum in malaysia. Rm3 per plate. Dont trust all those reviews that says the quality is soso. Compared to other dimsum in the vicinity like puchong and jin xuan in kuchai, this is more or less similar in taste and quality. Dont believe, try it yourself. Their paus are fluffy, and you get 3 char siew pau for rm3. The lau sar pau is somewhat similar to jin xuan, just that jin xuan use less colouring on theirs to make it yellow But the filling is still salted egg yolk and margerine (dont expect butter, even jin xuan uses margerine) the pork ribs is a must have. The serving size varies, due to price factor. I am not affiliated with this shop, but i frequent it since its cheap. Really hate it when judgemental people who are already critical against this shop before trying their food because of the lower prices. Sure, dont expect big shrimps in the chee cheong fun for rm3. But its the taste that matters rather than the price of the ingredients. Some people you buy abalone and let them cook also not as nice as a fried egg from...

Its an old school building tht bit run down and they food dim sum quality is bad. Wont go back next trip. Ordered hot coffee Kopi O and was told in package instant coffee only. First time had this type of service in dimsum place. Also they ONLY take cash (there is machine for card payment but they told us only for dinner service) sounds dodgy for avoid tax and no receipt too. All written payment slip. And weird even ask us to direct bank in to them with their bank account number. Is that even legal. We leave with few dishes cant even finish as weird off expired or overdue and over-steamed dishes with shirt bit wet due to warm stuffy hall. Feedback to the boss and he just “oh” , not even sorry or...
