Serves mostly Chinese Hokkien style dishes with popular ones like Fried Sweet Potato Noodle, Fried Rice Sticks, Fish Maw Soup, Steam Fish, Snacks (Eg: Fried Century Egg, Fried Spring Roll), etc.
Atmosphere: 2🌟 Very run down wooden house/shop that feels like it could break down any moment. They had a old fashion small air conditioned installed but doesn't do a lot unless you sit right next to it. Inside is packed where tables are very near each other and not a lot of seats available. Tables and chairs and everything is quite ancient and place is messy like some corner spot of a factory place. Good thing they serve utensils in hot water so at least we can wash and wipe and have some piece of mind.
Service: 2.5🌟 As this place is viral, there's a long line even at 8+pm. We have to wait for 45 mins to get a table and have to share the big table with another group. They actually ran out of Sweet Potato Noodle and Rice Sticks their 2 main dish that everyone is coming to try out while we are lining up which is very dissapointing. Service isn't rude but isn't friendly either, I feel they have too much business than they can handle.
Food: Fried Glass Noodle/Soh Hoon 3.5🌟 Texture is good, soft/smooth but elastic/bouncy at the same time. Portion seems a bit small, priced at Rm 13
Food: Fried Hokkien Mee 3.25🌟 Taste is slightly different (feels sweeter) with the one I'm used to but its not bad. Not sure why though the noodles are cut so short you'll have to eat it with spoons. Not a lot of ingriedents, priced at Rm 10
Food: Steam Fish Ginger 3.5🌟 Good fresh fish. The ginger paste is not too spicy and the sauce is just nice, not too salty and quite flavourful. Priced at Rm 48
Food: Seafood/Signature Tofu 3.5🌟 8 pieces of tofu which is quite nice. The skin outside is a bit crispy and thin while the fillings inside is flavourful, soft, tender mixture of tofu with some veggies which is flavourful. Priced at Rm 9.60
Food: Fried Spring Roll 4🌟 Very nice. The skin is really crispy and thin and the fillings feels very fresh, has good mixture of meat & veggies, very flavourful and taste very good. Priced at Rm 13
Food: Fried Century Egg 2.75🌟 Slightly dissapointing as the flavour of Century Egg doesn't shines through/got lost. Portion is also quite small, priced at Rm 13.
Overall, for those that wants to try the specialty Sweet Potato Noodle and Rice Sticks, I would proposed to go to nearby Jalan Mega Mendung's Medan Selera 1st Floor "Cao Shu Fun" which is a relative of this shop that has fallen out I heard. There the environment may not be fantastic but at least you don't have to line up long and get dissapointed and I'd tried both dish are very nice there. Can't compare to here as I'm unable to try and probably won't be back here...

A restaurant hidden in an small alley along the Old Klang Road (jln klang lama), in an old and retro-style wooden house. The landmark of its entrance is the archway of Choong Wen Chinese Primary School. The restaurant is not very eye-catching. Friends who drive here need to park their cars somewhere else and walk to the restaurant. Their business hours are from 11am to 3pm, and then from 6pm to 9pm. (or until the food sold out earlier). They have a history of more than 30 years. We arrived at about 6 pm, and the place was already full. It happened that a reserved table was cancelled when we arrived, and immediately, the boss let us take that table. Soon, a queue of people began to form outside the door. They have a famous garlic steam fish head/meat (but we didn’t order this dish today because we had seafood for lunch). Of course, other signature dishes include homemade tofu soup or fried tofu. We chose tofu soup. It is similar to shark fin soup and Sichuan soup (but without the sour taste). Eaters can add some black vinegar to increase the aroma of the soup and soften the thickness of the soup. It is a very appetizing dish. Next is their signature "Stir-fried Sweet Potato Vermicelli", which is one of the Fujian delicacies. Its stir-frying method is between stir-fried kueh Tiao and stir-fried of Kuala Lumpur hookkian noodles. It is not as dry as stir-fried kueh tiao and not as juicy as stir-fried Hookkian noodles. The tender sweet potato vermicelli is paired with bean sprouts, green onions, garlic, dried shrimps, pork residue, and other sauces. The taste is very special. We also tried their fried meat rolls. Although it feels dry, it brings out the kind of crunchy sound that can be chewed. The meat rolls are rich in fillings and dipped in their chili sauce to increase the taste buds. Finally, a stir-fried sweet potato leaf is served to balance the meal. If you don't mind the dining environment of the old wooden house, this is an old-fashioned delicacy worth trying. #saygo #oldtastefood #old Klang Road food #friedpotato noodles #tofusoup #KLfood...
Read moreJoined my friend on a very short trip to KL. Stayed at a pretty nice service apt, Millerz,2 off Old Klang Road. Was looking to have lunch before check in and another friend suggested we try Pu Yuan. Saw this in YouTube previously n was quite intrigued by its quaint appeal(read extremely rustic). It's off old Klang Road, and literally a stone's throw from Miller's. It can be easily missed. There is no fancy sign, in fact, you would not know it's a restaurant tucked in an old tin shack in the midst of some squalor. Arrived at about 11.45am on a Sunday n a few tables were already busily tucking into their nosh. They bill themselves as a Hokkien restaurant and essentially, their sign over the door spells out their signature dish - fried potato flour noodle. Along with a few other noodle dishes(including the rice cake), these make up the staples. I would recommend the fried century egg which I've never had before. It's got some minced meat filling, sorta like a lesser scotched egg. And then there was the fish maw soup. I've had better. But at this price point, you've just got to get it. To top it all off, we also got the steamed fish head in ginger sauce. KL really revels in steamed fish of all variety, and the ginger sauce takes pride of place here. I'm not particularly fond of song fish, but the ginger sauce reeled me in -- hook, line, and sinker. I can't do this justice without the mention of the toilet. It's 2 flushes short of an out house. I'm generally quite tolerant of toilets of various states, but this is on another level. The rickety door was held in place with a screw driver. You have to give them props for innovation. Overall , the food is downright old school, and packs some punch, and if you hanker for nostalgia, then you will...
