We were driving around Setapak area and were looking for a place to have our dinner. As we are not familiar with this area, we used Google map and searched for claypot rice. Wei Ji came up as the closest result and we decided to try it out. We arrived before 6pm and there were many unoccupied tables. We ordered a small claypot rice, a blanched iceberg salad and a wintermelon soup. The portion of the claypot rice was very generous. The chicken pieces were big and they also added chinese sausage. I did not find the quality of the sausage good and little too sweet for my liking. The chickens could have been marinated a bit long to make them more flavourful. The rice was well cooked. The vegetable was disappointing. A bit too overly blanched and the oyster sauce was watery and just too salty. The soup was okay. The total bill was cheap. The claypot was RM9, soup was RM4 and the vegetable was RM6. I understand that with these prices, they will have to cut some corners. I will not go back there. But I do recommend to those who prefers budget eating and great service. Portions were big. Just not that tasty. 4 stars for value and great...
Read moreIf I could rate this restaurant negative stars, I would. First time having such mushy claypot chicken rice. Rice was super yucky and lack of flavor. Funny thing is the food came 5 mins after I’ve ordered. Don’t tell me you’re continuously cooking cause there’s barely like any customer during dinner. Isn’t it obvious? You guys pre cooked it and just reheated it before serving us. That explains the mushy food! Yuck! And best part is when we called the uncle to calculate the bill, in the midst of calculating the bill, he received a call and just walk off. Funny? If you don’t want us to pay we can just walk out over the shitty good you serve here.

Service is quick, and the portions are generous for the price—definitely a plus for hungry diners on a budget. However, consistency is a hit-or-miss. On good days, the chicken rice is fragrant, smoky, and well-seasoned. On off days, it leans bland and underwhelming. It’s a bit of a gamble, but when it hits, it hits hard. To round out the meal, they serve a side of stir-fried greens and a simple soup of the day—nothing fancy, but comforting enough to complete...
