Itās not awesome, but itās decent.
Looking for a place with decent handcrafted espresso based drinks? This might be it. Itās not a ācafeā, itās simply a basic kopitiam that sells decent affordable coffee + variety of food stalls. I didnāt browse their menu entirely, but I spot they have different beans based on your preferences. I didnāt ask for recommendations, nor they do ask what notes you are looking for. (I have to remind myself this is a kopitiam).
Macchiato Lover is what I had. If Iām not wrong, itās based on Italian beans from Illy (since they serve using their cup). Some might call this macchiato two ways. One of which has a brĆ»lĆ©e top, and another with a good hint of chocolate. They also serve this with mini marshmallows and fish biscuits which is kinda nice. Itās also a nice gesture to serve with a cup of water so you can wash it down after. So why not 5āļø? I like the concept being a hidden kopitiam by the hills, but the āserving plateā is unnecessary. Itās almost like they try to be pretentious so it attracts people to āviralā it.
Another mention would be the Chee Cheung Fun. I like the variety of Ccf they have, and I had the smoke duck one with additional coriander - it was so yum! I would definitely come again, and perhaps deep dive into their espresso drinks more. It is always nice to have...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWaitress is very rude to yell at you from behind asking you to move away for her to bring the empty plates to washing area and the boss was right next to me but did not find anything wrong with it. Their business is good so the boss attitude has changed and no longer focus on service but money.
It's difficult to eat alone as the boss uses the system of self service to order and pay for drinks where they will deliver to you later. Problem is you alone can't reserve a seat while queueing to order drink. After that, you still can't order your food as your drink hasn't arrive, you walk to a food stall and some big crowd will mistakenly taken your seat. So while you wait for your drinks to arrive, the food that you want to order has been further delayed as others who came late manage to order first. End of the day you either manage to get a seat but spent 90 minutes alone to have that coffee finished before noodle arrive or you are walking off empty handed when someone occupied your seat.
I believe this is intentional. The shop does not want to do business with one individual occupying a table that can sell more coffee to a bigger crowd.
The principle is totally wrong and unethical.
Thankfully there's so many good food in ipoh so I'll just...

Giant siham in the Char Kuay Teow is really 1 of the reason I would come back again as i rarely find any store have option to have big siham. Not to forgot the noodle is full with wok hei. I also noticed they got unique dish like stew bitter gourd & group fish noodle, I would want to try this on my next visit.
They got more than 10 types of Hong Kong Style Cheong Fun. I ordered coriander with prawn, & it got very smooth texture blend very well with the prawn & sauce. Only cost RM6.
The curry mee look very nice but taste average, strong curry powder for the soup. But it include lots of ingredients such as pork skin, roasted pork & beancurd puff. Cost RM10.
What I impress the most is the choice of coffee they have. It doesnāt look like a kopitiam in Ipoh but more like a cafe level.
The ice house coffee (brazil bean) is Ipoh Standard.
Vietnamese Egg Coffee is very nice & cost only RM7.
They separate the toast & kaya butter which make it different from other kopitiam as well although I not sure why.
Most of the stall here accept...
