"If one cooks it well....it attracts a crowd. If you have the correct mindset....it becomes enduring" This is so true for this simple, humble, and sincere restaurant in Sri Damansara.
Originating from Gua Musang, Kelantan, i suppose it takes a move on from its humble roots by the 2nd generation to escalate the business to a higher level. The challenge for any business is the ability to adapt and serve "honest food" consistently and sincerely.
We stumbled on this noodle restaurant by chance as the coffee shop a coiple of doors away was packed for a weekend lunch. Only after this 3rd visit did I decide to write this review as 'Food is just taste but the story is beguiling'.
Kim Kee proudly showcase their 3 top sellers...Claypot Soup Pan Mee, Claypot Lao Shue Fen & Gan Jiong Lala Mien. My all visit favourite has to be the Gan Jiong Lala Mien. Order extra chinese wine @ RM1.9 (i think) to be poured into the soup for the extra Ooomph! The Pan Mee is superb, too, if you are a Pan Mee aficionado.
I know it's good when i have so many things to write about, but with length restriction here, i will confine to 3 things that totally stand out!:
Service staff is so polite, patient, and soft spoken. This just brings dining here to a new level. Soup base is superb, and the palate test passed with honours as i didn't feel thirsty on the drive home. The price point is spot on! It is affordable, and you get value for the quality. Each bowl came with good meat, lala, mushrooms etc my Lala Mien had an ample amount of Lala.
Have a look at the pictures i posted, and you will begin to understand why Kim Kee deserves to be on the radar of Yum Chasers!

Read moreI’ve been a loyal customer and have always supported this restaurant because of the quality of its food and overall concept. However, the service particularly from some of the female service crews continues to fall short of acceptable standards.
There have been multiple occasions where their attitude comes across as rude or dismissive, especially during busy hours. While I’ve tolerated it for some time, there is a limit to one’s patience. Customers may not always voice their dissatisfaction immediately, but repeated poor experiences do accumulate over time and when patience runs out, we simply stop returning.
Here are a few observations:
One of the kakak frequently serves food in a rushed and unfriendly manner, especially when the restaurant is busy. A little courtesy goes a long way. Service crews with red shirt (2 ladies - 1 plump 1 skinny) ignore customer who are clearly trying to get their attention. Even when your hands are full, a simple “one moment, please” would show attentiveness and respect. Pretending not to see or hear customer isn't acceptable – especially when you're walking right past them. The skinny service crew always didn’t serve properly. Nodded on the request but nvr come back and it happened many times. Also, I noticed that some staff do not wear name tags, which makes it harder to provide feedback constructively.
Please remember: a 10% service charge is being billed, and with that comes the expectation of basic courtesy and professionalism. Also, don’t forget the Vision Statement that’s proudly displayed on your wall - it should be practiced, not just posted.
I truly hope management takes this seriously. No matter how good the food is, poor service will eventually turn...
Read moreI ordered the TomYam PanMee. PanMee is good but the TomYam soup have no TomYam taste and taste a bit like only MSG, very salty. All things is clean, they give hot water to wash chopsticks and spoon. They immediately clean the bowl when we just finished and it make me feels like they are urging me to leave.
There is a table of customers that seems like the manager's or staff's friend. The staff played with them with hitting one of the friends and she is very loud.
When I go to pay, the cashier is talking on the phone seems like he is taking order. That's fine but what I expect is at least he make a hand sign to inform me to wait. He just kept on talking to the phone for about 2 minutes. And still when I finished my payment, he just gave me a the redemption card and the receipt without saying thank you even though I said thank you to him. The whole payment process he even did not make eye contact...
