Nestled within the tranquil setting of Mountain Valley Resort, Kloud Restaurant, Bar & Café promises a peaceful start to the day with a serene ambiance and stunning views. However, during my breakfast visit, the experience was a mix of highs and lows. I sampled the Big Plate and Chicken and Waffles, both of which were well-presented. The Big Plate featured a generous portion of classic breakfast items like eggs, sausages, and hash browns. While everything was cooked to a satisfactory level, there was nothing that truly stood out—a solid but uninspiring option. The Chicken and Waffles, on the other hand, had more personality. The waffles were fluffy with a light crisp, pairing nicely with the savory fried chicken. The sweet syrup added a delightful contrast, though the chicken could have been seasoned a bit more to create a deeper flavor profile. Unfortunately, despite the food being decent, the service was unexpectedly slow, even with only a handful of customers present. Basic service elements, such as taking orders and delivering food, seemed to drag on unnecessarily. This detracted from what could have been a relaxing and satisfying breakfast. Overall, while Kloud Restaurant has potential with its breakfast offerings, the slow service left a lot to be desired. For those seeking a calm morning meal with scenic views, it might be worth a visit, but patience is recommended.

We ate at both the restaurant and café during our stay. Beers at the café, and breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. The dinner in particular was outstanding, with a good selection of dishes to choose from. A lot of thought has been put into the menu design for dinner; props to the chefs. The food service was, however, very slow at breakfast; it took a while for the food to arrive for us and other tables. The coffee also needed to be improved, was very bitter and I couldn’t finish. The view was beautiful though, and all in all, the service across all experiences was lovely and kind. We felt very welcomed and would be back again. BREAKFAST 🌞 🍳 Kloudy eggs – RM 30 🍲 Beef noodle soup – RM 30 ☕️ Oat latte – RM 21 🍵 Hot jasmine tea – RM 10 Total: RM 100.10 DINNER 🌙 🍄 Mushroom soup – RM 25 🌱 Cauliflower steak – RM 60 🍲 Lamb stew – RM 55 🍸 Apple martini – RM 35 🥤 Coke – RM 8 🍚 White rice – RM 3 Total: RM 204.60 📝 Note: the café is at the entrance of the resort, while the restaurant is at the back, behind the lobby up from the stairs.

We had our dinner on our first day in Kundasang. The fish & chips and BBQ chicken wings were both done right. The BBQ chicke wings were so good and tasty. The next morning we came for an early breakfast before our ATV adventure begins and we shared a Big Plate. Breakfast was filling and good with coffee. Returned here again at night and ordered a tom yum seafood pasta and cajun roasted whole chicken leg. I was disappointed with the pasta as they came in short broken bits. Spaghetti is to be eaten long as you twirl the Spaghetti with your fork and not scoop with your spoons. The idea of the Tom yum was a definite good point and I like it a lot but the total execution on it had gone wrong. On a whole I will definitely recommend this restaurant as the service crews were awesome, especially Penny.

I’m usually not one to be bothered by less-than-stellar food, nor do I take time to write reviews unless the experience is either exceptional or unfortunately in this case, remarkably poor.

The pricing at Kloud Cafe is fair given its remote location, and the ambience and general service were okay. However, our experience was marred by repeated service issues and an unprofessional attitude from the person in charge.

Our orders were missed not once but twice. After reminding the staff, the food eventually arrived, though it was nothing memorable. When we checked on our cake orders, we were told they had been missed again. The cakes eventually came, but they were mediocre.

The real issue came when we were settling the bill. I noticed discrepancies - some items were on the bill that we never ordered. When I raised it, the person in charge insisted there was no mistake. Shockingly, the staff member who keyed in our missed orders also claimed we had ordered those items (we hadn’t). I stood my ground, and after further checking, she realised she had keyed our missed items under another table’s bill. While she did apologise, she deflected the blame by saying the staff who initially took our orders was new.hence all the mistakes.

What left the worst impression was the attitude of the person in charge. Throughout the entire episode, she was dismissive and unbothered, no apology, no accountability. It felt like I was the one inconveniencing them. Had I not checked the receipt, I would’ve unknowingly paid nearly RM200 more.

When I asked for an email address to lodge a formal complaint, I was told to “just tell her.” When I said I preferred to have it in writing, she encouraged me to “go ahead and leave a Google review.”

So here I am, as invited, sharing my experience in full. I genuinely hope the management takes this feedback seriously, because this kind of customer service really damages the potential of what could otherwise be a charming stop...
