I fell in love with Kundasang and the people. Mile 36 Lodge offers a variety of rooms. From budget rooms to prime rooms. I personally love the Begonia rooms because of both the mountain and garden view. And ofcourse there is a hot shower. And because of the climate there, there's no need for an AC. ๐โ๏ธ
I just want to suggest for one improvement in Mile 36 Lodge. I hope they will provide ramps, to make it convenient for those who are not backpackers and have a 15-20kg rolling baggage. ๐
Like the usual mountain lodge, ๐กโฐ๏ธ please expect that you may hear a bit of your fellow guests moving around or talking in other rooms. But for me, this did not annoyed me at all. I'm too happy with Kundasang and its people for me to get annoyed with these simple things. But if you psychologically can not handle such, I suggest you get the best room if you are not in a tight budget. ๐๐ฒ
The staffs are very accomodating, warm and hospitable. They also referred us to a van rental which is good as well and so as the driver.
You may include in your room booking the breakfast - though simple, is tasty. ๐๐๐ ๐โ They don't usually serve lunch unless you heads them up ahead of time. They do serve dinner though.
And if you are a pet lover, there are dogs near the reception area who are also friendly ๐๐ถ and a cat who likes to be cuddled. ๐๐ธ
You can also buy some items in the reception like instant noodles, candies, coffee, snacks, bottled water and they are open 24hours. Buying outside is a bit cheaper. But if you want convenience or don't have the time to drop by at the grocery stores, you can buy some snacks and bottled/packed drinks from them.
Another store is just a few steps away from reception. It's also located at the carpark. This store sells canned goods, also have some hardware items and items that can be used when you go climbing/trekking.
I'm definitely going back to Mile 36 Lodge. Kudos to all the staffs and the boss/es...
ย ย ย Read moreThe Queen Room w mountain view is stand-alone at a corner and has a room view of a slightly obstructed Mt K in the early morning. The next best thing is the shower heater which was actually powerful enough to supply warm enough water for a good shower. Room is also fitted with netting for insect control. Location is spectacular being a stone's throw away from Kinabalu Park (about 5 mins' drive) and from a good chinese restaurant (Station 89, 2 mins' drive).
There's a hut with the most fantastic Mt K view a few steps away; good for a cuppa in the morning. Breakfast is complimentary in their restaurant with an open area, an indoors eating area and the most quaint glass - wooden room which is our personal favourite; flanked by all sides with Jalousie windows; letting in ample morning sunlight. Breakfast was a simple affair of fried rice and fried meehoon, toasts, tea and coffee.
While we had a good stay and enjoyed the weather, the room was dated and definitely steep at the price charged. We hadn't had much choice as it was a weekend and most places were full without vacancies.
The lady at reception was particularly cheerful and sweet; also let us borrow a board game. Wifi provided didn't actually work, and phone reception and mobile internet were pretty hopeless. Be ready to spend time without internet, and have some entertainment with you. We thoroughly enjoyed our board games.
Parking spaces are available in the compound, but was just about sufficient in...

Came for some peace and quiet. Unfortunately, this was not so. The room we got was a Deluxe mountain view (in agoda) which was a hut by the hill. There was ongoing loud music with deep bass and karaoke going on from afternoon past midnight and began again in the early morning around 630am. The noise seemed to come from the hill near room 20.
The room (room 20) I stayed in offered a partial view of the mountain. Maybe a quarter. Most rooms appear to offer partial views of the mountain and only the bungalow offers a full view of the mountain. Room is old with a slight musty smell. Towels are provided and clean enough. Showering needs a bit of tweaking to ensure its hot. Water pressure needs to be adjusted so that the water stays hot. Tv provided with DVD player. Signal is weak for celcomdigi and better if using maxis.
The place is decently lighted so that it's safe to walk around at night. Stars can be easily seen if your into stargazing.
There are 2 carparks, one at the reception and one nearer to most of the other units. Parking is limited during peak times, the car park was full so cars parked alongside the narrow road within the premise.
Breakfast starts at 7am - 930am. Room comes with 2 breakfast and extra person costs RM5. Basic buffet with options such as fried rice, fried noodle and bread with tea and coffee. Need to take off shoes before entering.
Unlikely to stay again as was looking for a cool...
