Poor management, so much for the oldest Japanese restaurant in Kota Kinabalu!
TL;DR: if you're keeping the tables for multiple reservations, just tell your customer standing in the queue from the beginning. Don't waste everyone's time.
Went to their newly relocated shop in Iramanis. When I arrived, the place was full, with a small queue waiting (I'm the third group waiting for a seat). Was told they're full at that moment, but I can wait for available table soon.
Half an hour passed and I'm in the front of the line. Then the waiter started bypassing me and letting in people who seemingly had just arrived.
When I was bypassed by the third group of patrons, I clarified with the waiter again.
Turned out, I was not first in the line, far from it. They have multiple groups of people with reservations, for whom the restaurant were holding the tables. Then i was told there still more customer with reservations they're waiting for, and they're not actually going to serve me yet. Not until all the remaining reserved customers had arrived and dined.
While it's a perfectly fine practice to prioritise customers with reservations, what i deemed unacceptable was the reluctance to inform me from the get-go.
Why let me wait for close to an hour if you're already reserving tables for multiple groups of customers?!
it's fine for me to wait in a short queue, but i would not had wasted my time if the waiter had just the courtesy to inform me that the line is actually much much longer with no apparent end to it.
I've been in multiple situations where the restaurants I went to were full. Sometimes I waited, sometimes I go for somewhere else. This is normal.
But never before in my live, have I been "strung along" for an hour before the final "big reveal".
Thank you Nishiki for the eye-opening experience, I guess being the oldest Japanese restaurant in Kk does allows one to...

B sure to make reservations esp on a Saturday, it's gets very bizy. If u come late thy hv I think 5 tables outside n inside not any bigger. Although owner is from Japan the 2 cooks dat I can see we're locals n inside was another chef which I cld not c his face. Inside is fully ac w minimalist Japanese deco. Large variety to choose from, I had the unagi eel with rice large n I think it was 65-68 per bowel. Japanese food has never been cheap, it's the Asian version of fine dining. For the price I was a little disappointed esp for large it was almost small to me. U get 4 pieces of the eel which means standard u only get 2. It tasted nice w the rice n some carrots plus the soup which wasn't hot at all. I hate warm soup but there u hv it. The veggie was delicious mo so on the source thy used, extremely nice. The ice cream was ok n I'm guessing it's home made. Overall ok w a nice price range of rm368. Dis plc kinda brought me back in time as thy offer a wet towel as u set down, no body does dat anymo so it was greatly appreciated. Staff are helpful n thy greet u even after u leave, Japanese style. If u want quality Japanese food u can't go wrong at Nishiki...

It very sad that I gonna miss this place forever as the restaurant owner decided to close the restaurant with undisclosed reason. Their gonna open until 26/06/2022 this month from 3pm to 11pm. How I love the foods here and the feel of having foods in the oldest Japanese restaurant in KK. Time change and pass, who know what going to happen tomorrow. I decided today once again, maybe for the last time to take a meal at this restaurant with my family. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to wish the owner & staff of this restaurant to have a great future ahead and hopefully maybe someday you can reopen this restaurant....maybe... there's a lot of memories for this place. Thank you for the best food and service.
The oldest Japanese restaurant in Kota Kinabalu if I'm not mistaken. Nice place, delicious Japanese foods, good place for hang out and chill out.
There's a few promotions that you can't miss, like Buta Udon or the Bornean Roll (softshell crab with avacado sushi) yummy. A few more choices that I can remember cause I'm to full to eat another set. 😅🤭
Ohhh, forget to mention that it was a non halal restaurant.
Price....I said...
