Was planning a lunch pitstop halfway between KL and Ipoh so googled for recommendation. Came across this kopi tiam smack inside a quiet town of Tanjong Malim, approximately 2hrs drive from KL or 1.5hrs drive from Ipoh. Unfortunately by the time we arrived past 130pm, they were already closed for business. So, on the return leg from Ipoh back to Sgp, wifey insisted that we pay them a visit for brunch. Reached about 1040am and glad that we could still find a table among the crowd. Ordered the usual kopi set that comes with their speciality toast bun and egg. Also ordered the yong Tao fu where u can choose either the curry soup or clear soup. Since they looked so tempting, we ordered both to sample. My oh my, what a lucky discovery! The curry soup with bee hood was amazingly delicious. Unliked the thicker version of our curry or laksa gravy that is heavy with coconut and spices, this version is much smoother and less heavy. To describe the taste, it’s like a blend of mee siam and laksa gravy with a soupy broth finish. And because it mild spicy, I could finish each scoop even while nursing a cough. The clear soup was also good and goes well with the yong tao fu. Even the humble and daily toast bun turned out to be surprisingly good! The dough was fresh and went well with the butter and kaya. They also have a speciality kopi drink but we didn’t try it. The kopi tiam boss and staffs were friendly and helpful and made us felt at home. We wish...

Now talk about the food, I've ordered 4 pieces of Yeong Liu, a plate of noodles, plus a cup of Kopi O Kosong costing me RM10.80 Dec 2024). The Yeong Liu is a hit or miss here as amongst the 4, I only like the big fried piece, the other 3 (eggplant, taufu pok, fish ball) tasted bland. It's kinda odd given that I absolutely loved the big fried piece that I didn't ask the name of. The dry noodles are also very very good and they didn't use the factory made yellow noodle which is a major plus. The coffee is also one of the strengths there, next time I'll try their tea and Cham.
The downside of this restaurant is the hygiene... Its location (lower than the road), and drainage inside the kitchen. I can see waste water/oil flowing across the doorway when I'm going to the back of the restaurant crossing their...

Recommended are their coffee and toasted bun/ bread with kaya and butter. Tea was too light and not well made.
The curry is a little inconsistent, sometimes it has the raw curry spices aroma but sometimes it’s just right. So dry noodles (konlo) may be a better option to go with the Yong Taufu items on offer which are Highly Recommended. Try their Signature fried jicama item especially which has a unique crunchiness and...
