Disappointing Experience at Restaurant Mathi
I recently visited Restaurant Mathi, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Here are the key issues that stood out:
Firstly, the customer service was abysmal. Upon entering, we inquired if the restaurant accepted QR payment. The owner's response was not only rude but also condescending, questioning why we didn't have cash. He made us feel as though we were asking to dine for free, and he didn't even make eye contact, acting as if our inquiry was an interruption, despite there being only 2 to 3 other customers at the time.
Secondly, we had a specific request in our order to avoid chicken wings and instead have chicken breast. Despite reiterating this preference to the staff, we were dismayed to see one of the staff members preparing our dish with chicken wings. We reminded him of our request, yet our food still arrived with chicken wings included.
Thirdly, as many other reviews have pointed out, the restaurant was swarming with flies. This is a major hygiene issue that significantly detracts from the dining experience.
In conclusion, if there are other dining options available, I would strongly recommend avoiding Restaurant Mathi. The food was average at best, with nothing unique or noteworthy about it. I understand that running a restaurant is challenging, but it is crucial to remember that without satisfied customers, a restaurant cannot thrive.

I need to be very careful what I say, as I do not wish to upset anybody.
The workers tend to be friendly, cheerful and helpful but supervisors and management seem very stressed and quite unfriendly.
The food??
Well, it is rather plain standard fare - nothing spectacular or fancy although I am sure it has its supporters.
Hygiene??
I have heard it got shut down by the local authorities a year or so ago.
Given that virtually no Malaysian food establishment will pass even the most cursory health check by a Western country, one can only imagine what must have occurred for this place to be shutdown by a Malaysian food inspector 😱
OK, enough of...
