We came here again, with Daniel in tow, but for lunch this time. It was also on the Chinese New Year itself, and we did encounter a lot of chinese customers enjoying their CNY celebrations here. They seemed to be enjoying their servings of Nasi Ulam and Nasi Dagang very much...I went for the Nasi Putih with Kambing Bakar, which was slightly overburnt, but I took everything in my stride and didnt make any complaints at all...
Abe Zig had invited us to have breakfast here on a sunday morning. Since we havent been here for quite awhile, we agreed wholeheartedly. They only open for operation at 8:30 in the morning, so we timed ourselves to arrive at 8:25 am.
But to our surprise, there were more than 30 people already waiting patiently outside the restaurant!! And some unknown numbers were already inside, coming in through the back door...As soon as the roller shutters were rolled up, the mob of customers immediately rushed into the shop to form a long queue for food ordering. We quickly joined the waiting line, which took us another 20 minutes to place orders, and another 10 minutes before we could sit comfortably at our table, with our foods. The air force officer right infront of us claimed that he had waited outside since 7:00 am...
Both my wife and I ordered the Nasi Dagang Gulai Ayam, with some fried chicken added in also. That turned out to be quite a glorious meal for us. On the other hand, Zig & Ma had decided to try the Nasi Ulam Daging Bakar, which was served with plenty of ulam ulaman, and the Budu sauce. This meal looked so appetizing to me, and I had made a mental reminder to try it next time.
We had always received complimentary nasi kerabu and nasi dagang from Warong Ambo, bought by our dear neighbor, without actually knowing where this "warung" is located.
So, this morning we decided to have our breakfast there...Looking at the number of people queing for their orders, and the size of the crowd already seated enjoying their food, this is no ordinary warung at all!! For a start, they occupy two shop lots...and in the same block, there was another shop named Ambo Cafe..So, you get the picture, this is not a small enterprise by any standard!! And the choices of food and kuih muih available are such mouth watering that you will swear to come again soon..To top it all, the lady cashier also accepted payment by T&G e-wallet...that made it so convenient for...
Read moreHave always been a follower of fantastic “east coast cuisine” namely terengganu and Kelantanese style restaurants or warung to be specific. Today it felt like I’m in Kelantan and the taste plus flavours felt rightfully so. The patrons were definitely regulars as they were as early as us ( we arrived 11.30 just in case) and they were almost full. By noon a line had already formed and it’s a long wait if you are not prepared. Today we are three person strong hence we did over ordered a bit even though we each had our own set ( they offered superb combo plates). I had my Nasi berlauk with ikan tongkol with over loads of kuah and telor, my partner had Nasi Danang with ikan tongkol gulai and my girl ordered Nasi Kerabu with daging kunyit. I could not resist the ayam ayam perchik with thick coconut sauce drenching the drum sticks. I add on also the daging bakar which was not to my liking ( preferred the warung in kg baru KL, sorry can’t recall the address but they are famous enough to look up on social media). I’m very very curious about their ayam goreng ( noticed two type on display) hence adding on to our ever more reasonable to return for seconds. Price wise it’s totally reasonable hence the popularity but do bring cash in case, unless you have e-wallet . Verdic 👍👍👍 and it’s worth the hype. Again maybe even as early as 11am to avoid the long...
Read moreKelantanese local homecook dishes well known in Malaysia. The best nasi kerabu outlet around, equivalent to the kelantan nasi kerabu. The rice is a big portion and the meat is well grilled.
Warung Ambo is rather famous, especially among the Shah Alam folks. They are also rated highly online If you read through the reviews, you’d notice common words like ‘excellent food’, ‘good Kelantanese food’ and ‘good value for money’.
To get here, use Waze or google map, it will lead you right to Warung Ambo’s doorstep. This eatery occupies the corner lot of a quiet row of shops. So, parking was really easy, plenty available all around.
You do not have to worry about seating as Warung Ambo occupies two shop lots. Plenty of table and chairs to sit at. The crowd in the queue tends to move, so even if it is full house, an empty table will soon be available.
On my other visit I tried the nasi dagang, which is an eastern state delicacy. It comes with an egg curry and a piece of tuna curry slice. It taste really good. The spices are well balance and if you prefer a bit hot you can take the chilly salsa.
This is one of my favourite eating place. THE Lady owner is kind. Service is good and pricing compatitive. Recommended for everyone for the...
