Unfortunately I had a bad experience in terms of food safety when eating here last month, I bit on multiple bone shards in the lamb quesadilla mince which is very dangerous for anyone who is an elder or a child.
Thankfully I managed to get them out bit by bit, and notified them so they can hopefully enforce better food safety measures. But what disappointed me most was that one of the staff members claimed the biggest bone I took out was a jalapeno stalk/stem when it feels like a bone (based on texture, hardness and inability to bend). Even if I was mistaken, a large stem would still be a choking hazard in something that is supposed to be 'boneless' especially in a mince.
The main issue I had with with how reluctant he seemed to take any action to change it for future customers, he offered me a discount for my meal but that wasn't the point I was trying to make. With the prices they charge for their food, they need to be more careful with food preparation, or change their meat supplier if the fault lies with them instead.
Although I love the taste of chachi's food, this incident compelled me to change the rating so other people who may have sensitive teeth and anyone who is an elder or is bringing their kid here can be aware about this and avoid choking hazards.
Old review:
The quesadillas and chimichangas were delicious! The waiters were friendly too, and the overall environment was pleasant. Some of the drinks were a bit pricey, but at least they also serve filtered water. One of the best mexican eateries I have...
Read moreHad a fantastic time at Chachi's last night! I was solo dining and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating.
I ordered the Spicy Birria Chicken Quesadillas, Roasted Duck and Peach 9" pizza, and a strawberry milkshake. My total was RM81, which is pretty steep, but I ended up with more than half of everything for takeaway, so it's not bad! The food was INCREDIBLE! Been wanting to try birria for the longest time but struggled since it's traditionally done with beef, but Chachi's proved that a replacement will taste just as good! The cheese in the quesadilla even had a pull I did not expect, delicious all around. They also do Lamb Birria tacos which I will definitely try next time! The pizza was out of this world, made on the spot and had the same quality of artisanal pizzas! It made up for the price point the moment I took a bite of the richness. The strawberry milkshake was also very good, came with whipped cream too! The perfect chilled delight to enjoy next to the steaming hot food. Will be back for the margaritas next time, they looked too good!
The atmosphere was not bad either, reggaeton was playing and the decor was really lively! I appreciated the details, even the evil eye ward hanging in the corner.
Overall: Chachi's is a great place for catching up with friends (they have a few sharing platters!), dates, or just for a nice dinner by yourself. Treat your tastebuds to some deeeelish...
Read moreOn the table is Spicy Chicken Birria quesadillas (Large RM29) so for those who don't know, Birria is slow cooked beef stew that is heavy on flavors and tender to the bone. The beef will usually then be pulled and used either as a dipping sauce or inside a taco. Having chicken , beef and cheese in a tortilla, this will be interesting.
The dish comes with a lime slice, sour cream and a salsa sauce that's not really a salsa. The first bite was cheesy and chunks of chicken; the sour cream is creamy based and seems like they used egg white in the consistency.
Next comes the dish itself which at first i have to admit I prejudged them and doubted them but they proved me wrong, the quesadilla was ok, the only thing is the Birria.
The servers are nice and friendly. Parking will be horrendous during weekend peak hours and office hours. They have a wood fire oven for pizza's under the brand Big Brooklyn. I'm pretty certain they would do well to attract the student body of SS15.
