Bake Away — Restaurant in Malé Atoll

👀 Just be aware who brings you here…

I was invited here for dinner by a man named Samiy, who works at a nearby guesthouse. He mentioned this restaurant was owned by his cousin, and said the hotel nearby was also his. Later, locals told me none of that was true — he doesn’t own either place.

He presented the dinner as a kind welcome gesture, even took a photo of the food in front of me (before joining the table himself). Later, I was handed the full bill without any heads-up. Quite the surprise for a “guest” meal.

Afterward, the man became unusually persistent with me around the island. Several locals later said this wasn’t the first time he had acted this way with solo tourists.

The food here was fine. Just make sure you’re here to eat — not be part of someone else’s...

Juice was refreshing. Ordered valhomas fried rice (fairly good) and a club sandwich (wouldn't recommend).

Had to wait for food for a while

The atmosphere is enjoyable. Would come back for the drinks...

Great bakery/coffee shop/restaurant right next to the local beach.

Had a vanilla milkshake and a beef sub with fries, and everything was tasty.

Sat in the shade outside.

Service is nice...
