Lacocina — Restaurant in Malé Atoll

I've traveled all over the world and I always, always order butter chicken when I see it on the menu. At first glance, you will know by the cool boat and lights (dinner) amongst the palm trees that you are in a special place. What we liked more than anything is the staff who are always smiling and friendly. The night we got there was right after snorkeling and we were starving. Right away the staff were very attentive helping get us drinks (try the Watermelon Mojio) which is absolutely awesome. Then out of nowhere I was completely surprised by the best Butter Chicken that I have ever had in my life. Friendly people. Great atmosphere. Astonishing out of this world food. I'm sitting at the restaurant now second night in a row and writing this review because it's that great of an experience. Safe travels to you, and if you are here tomorrow night you'll probably see me. I'm the one smiling eating butter chicken while my girl has bruschetta which is also awesome enough to have her agree to follow me back here over and over....

Unfortunately there is no option to give 0 stars. Pizza was something on top of a grocery store pizza bread. Seafood fried rice made of the worst frozen seafood IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OCEAN??? Service is super slow... After 40 minutes they said that there was a large "pre-order" as it was only us at the restaurant Very annoying crows not letting you eat properly Payment: the lady was very picky on what dollars they accept (even if the total is mentioned in USD) so they don't want to accept 1 & 2...

For our family of 5 with teens, the menu has something for everyone to offer. We had the butter chicken curry which was delicious, the egg biryani - really nicely spiced, a quite spicy bbq chicken pizza which our son loved and for the youngest fries and chicken fingers which were also pretty great. As there is no dessert menu the kids choose Oreo milkshakes instead - which they loved. The setting is café-like and fits the islands...
