Gharb Rangers Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in Għarb

INCOMPREHENSION. We have lived in Malta for years, we are not demanding at all and this is the first time we have left a restaurant without having finished our dishes. We went to this restaurant because of the great reviews we read and we are still trying to find an explanation for the horrible aftertaste of the food and the fact that it seemed frozen. We had a tasteless capriciosa pizza, no taste..., cannelloni with a quantity of sauce which had a horrible aftertaste (the frozen ones from Welbees are even better...) and I'm not talking about the Caesar salad which was not. It wasn't one. The salad was not fresh, instead of bacon there were a few squares of ham, the sauce which was anything but a Caesar sauce, the croutons which were soft, in short everything was disgusting. The less surprising thing was to see that that evening, few clients finished their plates. Maybe a replacement for cooking? In any case, seeing the cook leave and enter her kitchen every second and being on her phone + seeing our dishes arrive quickly, you don't have to be a genius to guess that the food is not fresh and even less homemade. At least the evening we were there.

However, the service is nothing to say, especially for the server who was very attentive to us. It’s a shame for them who do...

The reviews were good and it was clear it has a terrace with a valley view, so we decided to try out this restaurant. What a disappointment this was. The terrace was closed because of a storm (we were already here for a week and didnt experience a storm at all) so sadly we had to take a table inside. Too bad there were no other guests and it smelled like a toilet inside. Outside as well btw.

We ordered pasta’s which usually are very good in this region, but how disappointing can a pasta be… I had the sausage and tomato sauce pasta which was just tasteless and super greasy. My girlfriend tried the pasta bolognese with stewed pork. This was one of the most rancid tastes I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant. It smelled bad and the meat tasted like it was well over date.

Finally we tried to save the night with deserts. I had the warm brownie which was absolutely tasteless. You can make better ones with a cheap package from the supermarket. My girlfriend had a vanilla ice cream dough roll which was frozen solid like a brick and tasted like the food it was lying next to in the freezer. We didnt even finish it sadly.

I wont be coming back...

From the moment we arrived, the service at this restaurant was warm, attentive, and professional. Our waiter was knowledgeable and made us feel welcome right away, offering great recommendations and ensuring we had everything we needed throughout the meal.

I ordered the Spanish cannelloni, and it was absolutely delicious—perfectly baked with rich, flavorful filling and just the right amount of creamy sauce. Every bite was full of authentic taste and care in preparation.

To finish, I had the apple crumble with vanilla ice cream, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. The crumble was golden and crisp, the apples soft and spiced just right, and the creamy vanilla ice cream on top brought it all together beautifully.
