A Perfect Summer Day at Il-Forn ta’ L-Għawdxi – Marsascala
Today, my wife and I spent a fantastic day at Il-Forn ta’ L-Għawdxi in Marsascala, and it truly exceeded our expectations. From start to finish, everything was smooth, relaxing, and enjoyable.
We had pre-booked two sun loungers with umbrellas, which were perfectly positioned right in front of the sea—an ideal spot to unwind. We kicked off with a couple of beers, a cappuccino, and an Aperol Spritz. Despite the place being fully booked, service was prompt, friendly, and well-organised. It’s no surprise they’re always packed—this place is 100% worth it.
A special mention goes to Kevin, the manager, who treated us with genuine care and dedication. He’s incredibly friendly and clearly passionate about his work, ensuring that everyone is comfortable and well looked after. The entire team was kind and professional, adding to the laid-back yet well-managed atmosphere.
When it was time for lunch, we started with calamari fritti—crispy, perfectly cooked, and full of flavour. I had the tagliata served with vegetables and fries—the meat was exceptionally tender and fresh. My wife went for the risotto gamberi, which was beautifully cooked and absolutely delicious.
The location itself is ideal, right on the Marsascala waterfront with a lovely setup that combines the feel of a beach club with great dining. It’s a place where you can easily spend the whole day—swimming, lounging, eating, and relaxing.
We wholeheartedly recommend Il-Forn ta’ L-Għawdxi for a peaceful, high-quality beach day with great food and top-notch service. A small tip: book ahead—this gem fills up quickly.
Thank you to the whole team, and especially Kevin, for making our day so special. A solid 10/10 from us. We’ll definitely...
Read moreAverage food at higher than average prices, with poor service and bad attitude from management. I understand mistakes can happen in a busy kitchen, or something might be wrong with some stock or ingredient, which can be out of one's control. What's in your control is your attitude. Dismissing comments (never mind if we had actually complained) from paying patrons is unacceptable. The manager treated us as if we were imagining things or didn't know what a king prawn should smell and taste like. No apology but instead we were ignored by the staff which was disrespectful and rude. Nobody came back to clear the remaining items from our table after our comment, or see if we wanted to order desserts or more drinks even though we stayed there for a long time and the place was emptying. Well, we won't be going...
Read moreI have frequented Marsascala pitch for many years. It is a remarkable gem. So I decided to visit in it's present guise as Forn tal Għawdxi. We went for the Ftira Għawdxija. The Fenek was great and the Maltija was even better, but twice the size my wife and I can handle in one sitting. Not a problem, Ftira is just as good if not better, next day after 3 minutes in the Air frier. The restaurant was just over half full with enough staff, but the area where were sitting was seriously underserved with servers mostly concentrated on the other side of the restaurant. Overall the experience was good and the atmosphere of the twilight by the waters edge magical, and as good as it gets on a quiet relaxed summer evening. Staff were polite, helpfull and for a change mostly local. Overall it was a...
