Summer Nights Pub & Grill (Marsascala) used to be my absolute favorite restaurant when I lived in Malta. The food and service were exceptional, and I never had a single complaint out of the hundreds of orders I placed there. Even my wife, who would visit with her family, loved it just as much as I did. However, on my recent visit back to Malta, I experienced a shocking decline in the quality of service and food at Summer Nights. Despite making a reservation online, we were informed upon arrival that our booking was invalid. Nevertheless, we were given a table, and we proceeded to order a ribeye steak with mushroom sauce, a tomahawk to share with pepper sauce, and lobster and crab ravioli. We made it very clear to our waiter that my friend had a pork allergy, and she assured us that she would inform the chef. After waiting for a total of 1 hour and 43 minutes for our food, we were served a small portion of fries (intended for two) and noticed that the mushroom sauce was missing. The tomahawk, which we were told was meant to be shared by two people, looked disappointingly small. However, we didn't mind the wait or the initial presentation, as we were looking forward to enjoying our meal at our favorite restaurant. As we started to dig into our food, the problems began to surface. The tomahawk, which was pre-cut in the kitchen instead of being presented on the table, was 80% fat and membrane, with barely any edible meat. Both my friend and I were horrified at the sight of it, and after a few minutes of attempting to find some source of meat in the dish, my friend began to feel sick and nauseous due to his pork allergy. So of course I rushed him to the restroom as he felt a big urge to vomit. When I returned, I informed our waitress of my friend's reaction and asked if the tomahawk had been cooked on the same dish as the bacon served with the ribeye, as my friend's allergy was severe. The waitress dismissively denied this and even suggested that my friend might be imagining the smell of pork. Despite her unhelpful and unsympathetic response, I asked her to take a look at our tomahawk and pointed out the excessive amount of fat and membrane on the plate. However, the waitress was incredibly defensive and claimed that this was just the way this type of meat was supposed to be, and I quote "Customer's Pay for the Fat". At this point, I decided not to argue with her any further and just accepted that this restaurant had gone downhill. When the bill came, we were still charged for the disgusting tomahawk and other errors made by the restaurant, but I didn't bother making a fuss about it as money wasn't the issue. While we were waiting for our food, a peculiar incident occurred. We noticed that the restaurant owner's father ( or so I believe ) seemed to have an aversion towards the Wolt driver who arrived to collect an order. It was evident that the owner did not want the driver to enter the establishment and insisted that he wait outside for the order to be brought to him, despite no apparent reason for this restriction. Such behavior was unprofessional and disrespectful towards the driver, who was simply attempting to fulfill his job duties. Overall, my experience at Summer Nights Pub & Grill was a huge disappointment. The poor quality of the food, the dismissive attitude of the staff, and the lack of care for my friend's allergy made it clear that this was no longer the same restaurant that I had once loved. I regret to say that I will never be returning to this establishment again, and I would advise others to...
Read moreBad experience. Management and waiters seem stuck up. We were looking for a table of 2 in the shade and no one wanted to give us a table where we wanted because they said they couldnt separate tables even though the restaurant was half empty (Please note tables could be easily moved). Also i saw plenty other couples sitting on a table of 4. we decided to stay anyway and moved the table a little bit not to be completely in the sun. Having seen us doing this, the waiter ignored us completely and we were left waiting over 30mins to order. Finally another waiter served us. To top it all off the initial waiter came to us once we got up to leave just to wipe our table😂.. seemed more like he was trying to irritate us even more given he was making eye contact with us the entire time and not serving us up until we left. A joke of a restaurant in my opinion.. food was nothing...
Read moreHave you ever been served the main course before your starter? This is what happened on my visit to this restaurant with my daughter.
We ordered a platter to share as a starter and a main course each. To our surprise and disbelief, we were served the main course first but were advised that the platter was ready also.
No apology given after insisting that we wanted to have the platter first as a starter followed by our main courses. Instead the waiter tried to be cheeky and told us that the waitress thought that we were three persons not two!
Some time later we requested some napkins to a waiter who was looking in another direction. He didn't bother acknowledging my request but he did place some napkins on our table without bothering to look at us, let alone serve us with a smile.
The food was decent but the poor service spoiled...
