Drift Meze/Cafe — Restaurant in Swieqi

A very nice and pleasant resturant with friendly staff... but that where it ends! The food is an insult to greek food or for that matter the way its cooked. The mezze is simple yet dissapointing considering its just meze. The Halloumi is smaller than other resturants and not cooked well and it includes sesame seeds (???). The Callamari is just small baby squid, that has more batter than the squid itself, furthermore it has no seasoning so you end up showering it with salt and squeaking lemon to really enjoy it ($12.95EU is a bit much). Now to the main course, I had lamb and so did a friend of mine. I must say the sizes are descent but different proportions,, so unless you like them all well done its fine, but like me i prefer medium rare and it comes out medium well to well done(all different)! The staff were hesitant to fix it, and it took the owner 15minutes to come over and offer another, but by that stage i had eaten my meal and so were the group i was sitting with. Overall my advise if your'e looking for greek, food to be seasoned, meat cooked as ordered and attentive staff, i'd suggest somewhere else. What we ordered, Starters - Mezes dips x3, Callamari, bread, halloumi Mains - 2 x lamb cutlets, Steak, Chicken Skewer Deserts - x 2 Coffees...

The contrast in service between weekdays and weekends at this place is almost laughable. The waitress that work on week days is on point: Professional, quick, and actually respectful toward customers.

The waitress that works on Saturdays it’s a different story. She couldn’t be bothered to do the bare minimum. I sat there clearly waiting to order, and she deliberately avoided me. Watching me, then walking off, like it was some kind of game. It seemed obvious she was wasting time on purpose to push past the 12:00 breakfast cut-off. When I finally said I was ready to order, she didn’t say a word; just gave me a smug, sarcastic smirk and walked off.

That kind of attitude has no place in hospitality. If this is the person they’ve decided to put in charge of weekend service, the management should seriously rethink...

I recently stopped by Drift Meze/Cafe for a quick pick-me-up, and I was thoroughly impressed. The coffee was rich and flavorful, exactly what I needed to kickstart my day. What stood out even more was the lightning-fast service. Despite the morning rush, my order was ready in no time, thanks to the efficient staff. Speaking of which, the team at Drift Meze/Cafe incredibly friendly and welcoming, adding a delightful touch to my visit.
