We ordered the pork ribs, the Chieng’s shrimp and egg special, the hakau dumplings, and the lo mein noodles. Everything was simple yet really delicious, and the portions were generous for the price (we ended up taking a lot of it to go!) —such great value. We didn’t realize there were lunch specials until after we ordered but they looked like good deals. The food had an authentic taste, reminiscent of classic Chinese dishes. You can tell they use fresh ingredients, and the flavors were well-balanced and satisfying. The restaurant itself was clean and well-kept, which added to the overall pleasant experience. If you’re looking for good, authentic Chinese food at a great price in Mexicali, Chieng’s Bistro is definitely worth a visit!

We didn’t really know what to expect but the fact that it was crowded and there was a busy Chinese lady chef bustling about the front kitchen was a good sign. The food was really good - distinctly Chinese flavours with Mexican flair. The cha siu rice and rice noodles (chow hor fun) are a must order - good wok hay and not so greasy. We over ordered - it was worth it. It took a while to get the bill, but the food made up for the slow service. Edit: we went back a week later and it was even better. The soups are earthy, full of Chinese flavours.

Best chinese cuisine in mexicali. Closest thing to "authentic" Chinese-Cantonese food. No sodas. Just tea, which is fantastic. Not even ketchup or "chinese" mustard. A must go place in mexicali. Beware. Is not fancy. The service is OK ... don't expect a franchise restaurant treatment. The baking goods are awesome. It's always packed. Definitely coming back.

I almost walked out of this restaurant because I overheard the server mention several things they were out of to another patron. Also, server didn’t seemed to be the most attentive. Luckily, I didn’t leave. The food and tea drinks were so good and unique. This not your run of the mill Chinese restaurant. The dishes appear to be on the healthier and fresher side, yet sooo flavorful. Even the vegetables soup was exquisite! Left felling full but not overly full. I am no expert in the subject but the dishes at this restaurant appear to be closer to authentic...
