Mi Casa Es Su Casa — Restaurant in Baja California

I have been to this restaurant many times over multiple visits to Sani dental and the Cielito Lindo hotel and located in the same courtyard connected to the dental office. I've never been disappointed with the food, service or wait times. I mostly order take out to my room but breakfast in the restaurant is nice because of the cool jarritos clay coffee cups. I just love them. The interior is soo nice and welcoming and the staff are always happy to help with any special requests. One thing I would advise as a Socal girl with a love for spicy food is to ask them for the spicy salsa because I think a lot of the clientele isn't used to spicy food so the general salsa is kind of a watery tomato sauce, so definitely ask if you like spicy. Their food is inexpensive, actually crazy cheap compared to the states and it comes fast. I always over tip because it's so inexpensive. If you need them to deliver to your room because you've had surgery or are not feeling well, they will bring it to you. I personally haven't had to do that but they've offered. We have been before and had a great experience. Back this time not quite so good. We arrived and there were only three other tables occupied. We were told that we choose our own seats. Great. We went upstairs. We waited for quite a while for anyone to check on us. When she did arrive she asked us if we wanted menus to which we repied yes and then expected her to take our drink order! Then it took about five minuets for her to come back with menus. She did take our drink order then and the drinks were slow on coming. We saw them sitting at the bar waiting for her to deliver them. She took our food order and it came in a reasonable amount of time It was good. The portions were fair but we did not get any salsa. None. This was so not like our earlier visit. Went there while waiting for our glasses to be completed. Unfortunately, we were not impressed. We had to wait ten minutes to be acknowledged and another 5 to take our order. I ordered a combo and was told that I could not have it because they did not have the ingredients. I settled for tacos with steak. Meh! The salsa was spicy which I like, but I was not impressed with the tacos. My wife had breakfast and she said it was OK but we both said we probably would not go back. The place is old and well worn. I went to the men's room and the odor of ammonia (from urine) was sooooooo strong I felt I had the smell in me nose 2 hours later. I am sure glad I did not go in there before, or during, my meal. I probably would have hurled; or at least lost me appetite. Price wise you could not go wrong, but I would have rather paid more for a better...
