Restaurant Imperial Garden — Restaurant in Baja California

A good experience. Recommendation! Thanks to the recommendation of a friend, we changed our route from our beach holiday to home, just to get our meal here. By arrival, the parking situation was escalating, but the utmost friendly and helpful parking assistant was doing a great job. Luckily we have been able get a table for 6 Persons, maybe because it was already 2:30 in the afternoon. My Mexican friends and me got placed and I can assure that I was treated not often less attentive. First of all, only 2 of my guests received a menu until I had to repeatedly insist to please be so gentle to hand out more menus. Furthermore, the table was placed in such a unlucky position in the restaurant, that permanently, one or more waiters stood just a step away from our table. But as soon as we wished to order something, they got busy and away. Of course we had a waiter especially taking care of us and he was, let me call it "friendly". The meals have been served in a strange manner. My main course first, nearly 8 minutes later shrimps, another 5 minutes later, another dish, 2 minutes later the 5th dish and after our kind request, the rice. We shared our meals and the quality of the food, it's ingredients regarding freshness and flavor, was honestly outstanding great. The dishes have been authentic and at the point, even the rice. The shrimps have been perfectly prepared and every dish was wonderful and lovely decorated. Now we received the last dish, which was great as well. I wouldn't forget to mention the gratis crab chips entree, the gratis iced tea, or the gratis spicy orange and the fortune cookies. All unnecessary to me, but my guests have been pleased, to be fair.

We are lovers of Chinese food and we purposely drove through Mexicali for it. Decided to stop here due to the amount of reviews and many were good. Personally did not enjoy the place or the food. The atmosphere seemed authentic but the food wasn't at all great. It honestly wasn't the best experience I've had and it felt too overpriced. When the food is good, fresh, authentic and tasteful I don't mind paying, but $100dls at this place was not worth it. We definitely will be back to Mexicali and will find the famous underground city 😅 but not this place. I'm sure there are plenty more options around with better...

I give it 1 star for the impressive building but the food 1 star. I went there because it was new and we wanted to check it out. Right away I noticed one dish had way to much sodium where as another dish was bland. The fried rice tasted like it was recycled oil and old. The asparagus were under cooked that we kept putting them on the side of the dish.. The pollo en le plancha tasted more like pollo on the lamp for a few days.
