IF YOU ARE A REAL BACKPACKER TRAVELLER THEN IGNORE THE BAD REVIEWS AND READ THIS ONE
We can't understand why the reviews for this place are so low. It is the one and only restaurant we have found on this road around the hotels that does real authentic Mexican food and is still open.
The service was truly impeccable, our waiter made a real effort to learn our names and our tastes and advise us on what he thought we'd like most from the buffet and was very attentive throughout our meal. The buffet had a huge amount of options - no tacos or the like but more like traditional family/home style mexican cooking with many delicious stews, rice, soups and grilled meats/fish- I found the barbacoa de res, and the grilled pork was my favourite!
They bring you unlimited tortillas and salsa etc, you can go up for more food as much as you want, they also had unlimited softdrinks (homemade flavoured aguas/jugos, 3 choices) and they also have an array of fruit and rice pudding for desert. So we felt it at $220MX per person it was very good value, especially compared to the prices of all other places in the area. You can also buy beer for an additional fee, at $45mx
My advise would be avoid all the hotel restaurants along this road unless you like terrible pizza/pasta for a ridiculous price. Go to this place, Colibri or it is actually cheaper to get a collectivo or taxi inro centro and go to a taco place there.

Excellent food, so much variety and all dishes tasted amazing. I don't normally like buffets but this was fantastic. The grilled fish that you can order was my favourite, the spinach also excellent (all dishes were). Very quick and attentive service, highly recommend. Price a little high but totally worth it. The tour stops here. I get it that the driver usually gets free food, but can they actually go somewhere where food is decent. I don’t mind paying it was $250mx pp. they had a bit of variety of food but was not worth it for the money. The only problem is that after that there is nothing else to eat and the tour finishes...
