Mariscos Javic's — Restaurant in Chihuahua

Well, usually when things go wrong the 1st time you try and go to a restaurant, it won't go well the 2nd time.

The 1st time my daughter and I tried to visit the restaurant it was 7:50pm and the hours of operation posted we're until 9pm. There was still patrons inside but when we tried to open the door it was locked. A young waiter waves us off and that was that. I found this to be completely and utterly rude to not even have the courtesy to come to the door and explain why we couldn't be served especially when I was a woman with a small child...yes, I'm playing the female card because of the city I was in.

Maybe because it was the closest seafood restaurant to the hotel, I gave it a second try. This time it was around 2p.m. and the place was about a quarter way filled. Plenty of tables to go around. I asked the gentleman who was sitting us if we could sit by a window and I gotta tell ya, as someone who frequents restaurants there is nothing more ircking than someone who doesn't show ANY willingness to try and accommodate you. And to make matters worse he actually tried to convince me of why I should sit by the wall on the inner part of the restaurant. Un-freaking-beliveable!!! I humored him and my daughter and I sat down. I waited until our waiter showed up, asked him if he wouldn't mind us taking a table by the window and he said no problem. THAT is the ONLY reason I am giving this place 2 stars, because of our waiter. The food was decent...nothing exceptional except for the kids portions. The "Torre de Mariscos" was good but the vegetables were a bit soggy. The large shrimp cocktail was ok but in my opinion had too much ketchup mixed in.

I don’t know how this place is 4 stars ?! Terrible service and terrible food! Extremely salty! There’s absolutely no taste in their food. Just imagine pure salt. They left us standing at the front door for like 5 minutes with out acknowledging us even after I told them if they can clean at least one of their 5 dirty tables. Then after taking our first couple of bites, we called it quits. We just couldn’t eat it anymore. No one even came to check in on us, not even once. I had to get up and ask for our check! 5 star on flavorful food and good portions. You get tasty chips and two sauces while you wait for the food. We tried various dishes a la diabla and rice with camarón and it’s always been delicious. Visited three times already in one week! We’ve gotten sick with the hotel food but this is the one place where I trust the food will sit well with me. The prices are great! 3 can eat well...
