First, the food: I would highly recommend the ribeye. It tasted special and was cooked to perfection. I enjoyed the mashed potatoes that came with- I’m a sucker for mashed potatoes with bits of corn mixed in. Would also recommend the hibiscus tacos. They surprisingly remind me of jianbings, but perhaps with a subtle floral note. If you’ve never had a jianbing or sautéed hibiscus, this truly has a captivating flavor profile!! We also had the coconut shrimp, the tuna wraps, and the mussels. While fresh, they weren’t as memorable, especially the mussels and coconut shrimp. While presented beautifully, I found the freshness a bit overpowered by cream/cheese/fried breading/etc.- flavor profiles that did not excite me. But for the price, I still found them all reasonable and tasty, and I only critique them not because I was dissatisfied, but because I think there are better things to order for those reading. The pineapple dessert was delicious!! I wish the ice cream had been on the side so it didn’t immediately melt into soup, but I would still order it again regardless and devour it shamelessly. Truth be told- we regret not ordering the lobster. It certainly seems like the star here, and I couldn’t help but watch the other tables moan and drool over it. The table next to us all agreed the plain grilled lobster was the best preparation, but we didn’t try it so I’m going off their recommendation.
The chef was personable and passionate, making effort to speak with each table. The waitstaff was kind and welcoming, even the chefs and line cooks smiled and waved hello. The atmosphere was inviting and quaint. We sat in the upstairs patio overlooking the restaurant with a view of Sergio’s grilling. We were shaded by large trees ornamented in strings of dangling lights.
Quite happy to have eaten here! Thank you,...
Read moreI have been to Limon a couple of times previously and while it is good there is nothing that really jumps out as spectacular. On our most recent visit I contacted them beforehand to inquire the MP on lobster, I was quoted a price (which was fair) and was told the average weight was 350 to 500g but when I arrived I was shown the only one left which was 650g. It really was not a big deal as I did bring enough cash but since they do not accept cards it could have possibly been an issue. The lobster was delicious and my husband's pork chop was as well but the House Shrimp appetizer was lacking in flavor and my side of vegetables noodles were unseasoned and undercooked and the garlic bread seemed stale and only had a hint of garlic flavor. When we paid the bill the waiter took it off the table and counted it right in front of us which I thought was very rude, especially for this type of restaurant. I do not have a problem with him counting it but we were clearly still sitting and not ready to leave and were also seated upstairs so he could have walked down the steps and discreetly counted it out of our sight. Not sure if he thought we were going to stiff him on tip or just not leave enough money but I do not believe it is professional to count a paid bill right in front...
Read moreMy group and I were very disappointed in this place. We came here due to the great reviews and we aren’t understanding them. My boyfriend and his sister both ordered the avocado salad (one of them added chicken to it) and I got the cilantro chicken. The avocado salads were not salads; they were guacamole. On top of that, they lacked salt. My cilantro chicken was completely tasteless and white. It was like they simply boiled some chicken, threw some cilantro on top, and served it. I even had my boyfriend taste it and he agreed that it was so bland. When it was time to pay, we noticed that one of the salads (150 pesos) had an up-charge of 230 pesos for the added chicken! I thought that was ridiculous. How could a salad cost $9 and then an additional $14 to add chicken?! The US exchange rate was 16.5 pesos per dollar. We asked the waiter about this and he brought the check back very apologetically and told us there was a mistake. The salad actually ended up being $9 and then an additional $7 for the chicken, rather than An additional 14. Better, but still not appropriate pricing in my opinion. To top it all off, the staff was only seating patrons outside and there were only fans out there, no AC, so were were kind of sweating while we ate even though it...
