Marakame Isla Mujeres — Restaurant in Isla Mujeres

I ate at the place next door for lunch, where service was so slow it was basically non existent. So tried this for dinner instead.

First of all my rating is mostly about the meal I chose. I went for a pizza - and being honest it was probably one of the worst pizzas I've ever had. It was edible, and I mostly finished it. But it wasn't good (a frozen one would have been better). The base was extremely crisp/solid (possibly cooked separately first?), not much sauce, and too much cheese (just barely melted). And the pepperoni was barely cooked too. So just don't order the pizza here.

Everything else though I'd say was decent though, and I have heard good recommendations for the restaurant in general - I just ordered the wrong thing I guess.

Service was quick, atmosphere decent (and music was from the place next door but not quite as loud as there). Watch out for the mosquitoes though - wear mozzie spray.

On the pricey side but it seemed a nice place so was probably fair. Would have come back to try something else if I was...

Although the atmosphere of this restaurant is very romantic and beautiful, the food we had was not great. I had a chicken burrito my husband and some type of steak that was served in a little crock pot. The chicken in my burrito was cubed and not shredded, which I thought was weird. It also had runny refried beans in the burrito. Those to factors made for a very strange texture when eating. I only had two bites. I told the waiter that I didn’t like it, but we were not compensated. We also had guacamole for the appetizer. We went at 6:30, and were the only ones seated in the restaurant, yet it took 30 mins to finally get our order to the waiter. We were there for more then an hour and a half. Wasn’t sure what cocktail I wanted at first so I asked for a glass of water until I decided. My wife ordered her cocktail. They brought my wife’s cocktail and a empty glass with a Fuji bottle of water. I didn’t think anything of it until I looked at my bill and paid 198 Pesos (over $11) for the water??? My wife’s cocktail was cheaper then the water!! I paid the bill, however I told the waiter that I didn’t appreciate the charge for the water and that the management needs to know that this is not acceptable.
