It’s a family tradition at this point to go to Zaza on our yearly pilgrimage to Isla Mujeres. We started going when it was Captain Dulce. Anyway,.. a few things have changed, but it’s still a good time. The food is still excellent. I highly recommend the Quesabirilla tacos - some of the best I’ve had. I will say I am disappointed they got rid of the sun shade at the pool. It used to be nice to enjoy the water without getting scorched by the sun. I also noticed the pool itself was pretty murky. While standing in the pool, I couldn’t see my feet which was a little disconcerting. We liked the music that was playing, but it was pretty loud.
My biggest complaint this go around was we had something stolen from our golf cart while it was parked. It’s my fault for leaving our portable Bluetooth speaker in the dashboard. But it was black, and I thought inconspicuous. I only mention it here because I’m 95% certain it was staff who stole it. I say this because when we parked, there were about five staff members hanging around the parking area. When we left, no one was around and I am certain no other golf carts had come down while we were there. I’m not blaming Zaza, because I share in the responsibility. But I’m always disappointed when I’m letdown by my faith in other people. This is just to say, beware any valuables you leave in the golf cart. An obvious statement, I know, but...
Read moreCame here 6 years ago but has since been bought out by another company as it was pretty different this time around. Views were great and it was nice to enjoy the pool and the lounge chairs - however, waiter overcharged us for our 3 drinks (one sangria and two margaritas, nothing special at all). With the 16 to 1 exchange rate at the time (was listed on signs so we knew this going in) of me writing this, our drinks came out to 56.25$ USD, waiter insisted it was $70 and would not let us pay by card even though another waiter two chairs down had a card reader in his hand charging other people accordingly. He insisted that cash was “easier for him and card was not accepted”.
Not only were we overcharged but the DJ by the pool the afternoon we visited was not good.
To leave on a positive note: if you sit in the beach chairs by the water between the palm trees, you’ll have a lovely view. But this place is very overpriced.
If you are keen on coming here and seeing this view, instead of going to the bar itself, when you walk in down the steep driveway, walk right when you reach the dock instead of left. Bring your own towels and snacks and drinks and you’ll enjoy it much more and save being overcharged with the same...
Read moreMy wife and two other couples were lured here by a man out front of the beach club. He told us we could do the all inclusive, which included a food buffet and all you can drink. Once we got down to the beach club it looked amazing, however once we told him we would do it for $90 per person, he said no, you don't want to do the all inclusive, since it was already an hour into it. We said we didn't care and we would do it anyway, then he said "Oh, I guess their is no buffet and my manager won't do all you can drink either." It was a bait and switch, there was another group there who was told to come back today and they would have the buffet, of course they didn't have it. The other group was giving wrist bands for all you can drink at $60 per person, however, they could only get low quality bar pour drinks and tap beer. No specialty drinks, which were amazing btw, but that wasn't included. They tore their wrist bands off and stormed out, we left shortly after having our 2 drink minimum and 2 meals, which were very expensive,...
