Vicky's Sourdough Donuts — Restaurant in Jalisco

I was driving to Ajijic from Guadalajara and a friend what kind of food I missed most living in Mexico….my answer was fresh authentic bagels. I decided to google bagels in Ajijic. To my surprise I found Vicky’s bakery. I couldn’t have been any happier. Talk about being in the right place at the right time. I sent a Facebook message to Vicky’s and as luck would have it they were baking bagels the following day. I changed all my plans around so I could get some fresh bagels. I grew up in NYC and have been splitting my time between Lo de Marcos Nayarit and Denali Alaska. Long story short I have been bagel deprived for many years now!! I know everybody loves this bakery but if I'm rating it I would only give it 4 stars because I mostly buy bagels and you need to make an appointment to make sure you can get everything bagels on the only two days of the week (Mondays and Wednesdays in the early afternoon). I found another bakery that's further away from me but I like them better because they're lighter, last longer and are available whenever I drop in there. Best donuts I have EVER HAD!!! Voodoo and Krispy Creme aren't even in the same class. Maybe it's because these are small batch sourdough. They are a little hole in the wall bakery that is still a mom and pop op with people lining up outside and selling out by 2 pm so get there early or you will be disappointed.
