Prices are a little high for mexican standards, plates cost around 120 pesos and side dishes around 30 pesos on average, coffee and pasteries are good. Overall a good place for breakfast. Would have given 5 stars if my breakfast was as good as in the past. I ordered parmesan toast the other day and asked for my eggs to be "estrellados tiernos" which means sunny side up, I got back 2 rubber eggs, this dish also comes with either sausage or bacon, I picked sausage and my 2 sausage patties were very pink in the center, while I order my steaks rare I believe sausage patties should be fully cooked and slightly crisp. The main part of the dish which is a parmesan french toast hardly tasted like parmesan, I have had this in the past so I did notice a lack of quality. I also asked for a side hashbrown, in the past these were made from fresh potatos, now they are the ones sold at the local walmart, I know this because I buy the same ones and recognized them. The bannana blueberry shake is great. My wife ordered biscuits and gravy which came with a side of eggs (she went scrambled, they were fluffy and perfect) and wilted spinach with onions and mushrooms with a touch of olive oil, the gravy was very tasty and creamy with a balanced amount of chunks of breakfast sausage and cheese in it. As usual she ordered coffee which was really good and fresh orange juice. I was envious of my wife that day because the quality of my breakfast was below that of a mexican market stall and her dish was tigh tier. Even though I had a bad dish that day I would still recommend this restaurant, it has a good variety of dishes that are different from any other local restaurants, choose it if you are looking for something that is not mexican cuisine, the pumkin waffles are prettt good. Breakfast-wise if you are looking for mexican guisados I recommend La Carretilla in San Antonio (authentic mexican guisos, make sure you order a quesadilla with mantequilla), if you are looking for menudo (order pedacera, add lemon, green chile serrano, pinch of onion, a speck of oregano and you are in for a treat), birria or authentic chilaquiles (you have to ask for cream for your chilaquiles) I recommend Birreria El Mata in the Chapala market square (get a side order of their refried beans, the consomé/broth is also good). If you are looking for a great torta ahogada look for charlys tortas ahogadas in Chapala (I recommend a torta mixta), be careful with the hot sauce, the birria tacos and cruchy tacos with or without meat are really good as well and if there is any, try the "ensalada de habanero" which is a habanero...
Read moreNot the greatest service. I took my nephews for breakfast on new year's day. When we got there, there was a table for 4 available but it had cleaning supplies on it. Since no one greeted us, one of us cleaned it and handed the spray bottle to one of the staff members. We sat and waited. After a few minutes, we asked another staff member who was just standing for menus. After a few more minutes, no one would came to take our orders, so we signaled the same staff member to come to our table. He asked one of us what he needed, he said coffee. The staff member then left without asking what the rest of us wanted. After that, I asked my nephews if they had decided on their meal, but since this was our first time there, we all had unanswered questions and, since nobody had come to our table yet (after at least 15 minutes) we decided to get up and leave. I cannot comment on the food, but if you read the whole review, we're not planning on...
