Dalis — Restaurant in Mexico City

Loved loved loved everything about Dalis! I'm not sure what was more of a standout: the delicious, doughy-but-not-too-heavy Italian (note: not "Italian-style", but real Italian pizza, as the owner is an Italian Mexican immigrant) pizza itself or the kindness of the owner and his staff. We biked 40 minutes in an unexpected downpour to get to Dalis from our apartment and arrived shortly before closing, completely drenched. Not only was our late order accommodated, but we were invited in to dry off and warm up in a cozy area near the brick oven. When our pizza arrived shortly later complete with fresh mozzarella, tasty sauce, perfectly grilled veggies, and the Italian sausage I still dream about from my college semester, we were in heaven. Add some chilled Corona to top it all off, and you've got hands-down the best pizzeria in CDMX. Reasonably priced, too. Can't wait to come back...

For starters, WOW. I'm an ex-flight attendant and I've been around to a good amount of places at this point and being Italian I've always enjoyed trying pizza wherever I go. But Dalis pizzeria really impressed me. You know a pizza is good when that dough takes you back to that first night in Italy during your vacation and you can smell the fresh ingredients a mile away. The food alone was exceptional but the owners were truly pleasant and so knowledgeable. Dalis Pizzeria is a true gem. We have had great Mexican meals in Mexico City, but the pizza we had at this unpretentious eatery is at the top of our dining experiences. The pizza was absolutely delicious and authentically Italian — it can hold a candle to any pizza we’ve had in Italy.. Daniel, the incredibly gracious, talented chef has achieved a perfect balance of sauce made with ingredients from Italy, authentic cheese, and amazing crust.
