We stopped by here after passing by a couple of times since we were staying close by and ordered 2 steaks. 1 ribeye and 1 top sirloin, if it wasn't for the different sides we ordered we would not have been able to tell them apart. The appearance was not appetizing at all, they looked grey and not cooked on the outside but we decided to try it anyway. Right away we realized we had made a mistake, they were both extremely chewy and you couldn't even cut it. All the pictures I saw on the reviews look like they are well done, we ordered ours medium so I don't think they know how to cook anything but the well dones. We asked to order something else and then changed our minds to just wanting to leave after they said that they could not exchange it since we had ate some of it. Well of course we tried it, how could we know we don't like it unless we try it? We had one bite of each steak, we just wanted to leave so we offered to pay one plate only and they finally agreed. We were really disappointed after throwing away `$250mxn but happy to be out of there. By far the worst steaks I've had. The wine was yummy & came in handy to wash...
Read moreTerrific place! I've been here several times for breakfast and steaks. Reminds me of steakhouses in the US. Quality cuts and cooked to perfection. I usually include pictures with my reviews but impossible with how delicious the food is here. The staff and owners are very welcoming and provide excellent customer service. I've been to more expensive places in CDMX but the quality at Tony Joe's is far better. Highly recommended and my go-to steakhouse in the city!
For the record, I always order my steaks medium. I've ordered T-Bone, Sirloin, and Ribeye, all which were made perfectly. Nice and pink on the inside. Doesn't need steak sauce either, it's that good. The meat juice with the meal (jugo de res I believe) is always delicious and goes well poured on top of the steak and fries after a couple...
Read moreSimply outstanding. This is a neighborhood steakhouse, so don´t expect the fanciest chateaubriand or any 4 inch porterhouse. Things here are simple and North-of-Mexico inspired. Now service is impeccable as they welcome you with a courtesy cup of beef shank broth and prices are super affordable. We had a NY and Rib Eye and both came perfect (mine was ordered blue and was delivered masterfully red inside). They even offered to char any remaining fat from the NY on the grill and returned it just perfect for a final couple of tacos. Handmade tortillas, awesome salsas and a wine menu that starts at USD 10. Main recommendation? Come...
