WELL ... I really LIKE Origo. The lattes are very, very good. And the baked goods are great, too. BUT, the prices have just risen AGAIN (Feb 2024). They were high-ish to begin with, but now they border on the outlandish. 60 PESOS for what is definitely a small-sized latte (US $3.51 at today's exchange rate) is Just. Too. Much. $7.00 for 2 small lattes?!?!? Come on. A QUART of milk here in Morelia is just 30 pesos, and they probably pay less than that because they buy in bulk. Too, I bet they get at least 4 lattes from one quart. In addition, Origo can be loud--with people talking. That's okay; I don't mind people yammering away. But today--Feb 14, 2024--they had LIVE music in the morning, which was obnoxiously loud, and simply obnoxious. There was a clarinet (!) which pierced all the conversations in the restaurant, so people naturally spoke even louder!!! To be heard. GEEZ. Did management simply not hear how loud and disconcerting the volume was?!? Or do they simply not care????? Personally, my patronage has dropped off recently due to that price increase. (I mean, one can only tolerate so much, right?!?) And after the music today, which was blaring, I doubt that I'll frequent the cafe anymore. So, take your chances if you go there. And take your...
Read moreOnly ordered coffee. Mediocre to poor taste quality. I ordered strong and it was weak! Not good flavour at all. Beautiful inside atmosphere but, this is destroyed by the poor quality service. You have to find someone to help you despite here being many people doing nothing behind the counter. To order you have to go to the far end, rather than just ordering from the people right in front of you. I do understand that this is their system, but unfortunately, it allows more opportunities for mistakes in processing the order. Why have 3 people when one could just do it? Prices weren’t terrible for Mexico, but they are super high for the quality. Lots of expensive “green” spinach type drinks being made, if you’re into getting your oxalates load up to the sky, ouch! Like microscopic glass shards tearing apart your intestinal lining! I honestly thought that people had figured that green smoothies were an extreme toxic overload to our bodies, but I’m guessing it’s not common knowledge in Mexico yet. If you too aren’t sure, do your research. It might be why your...
Read moreContrary to all my previous visits, which were a superb experience and delight, this morning I was mortified to experience the poor service of the waitress: total lack of imagination/willingness to meet a very simple request in the presentation of a fruit plate; rude when she finally came round to meet the request; poor service up to the point when I asked for the bill. Having said that, the premises were immaculately clean (as in every single previous ocasion, the food and ingredients were top rate and the diligent and sympathetic hearing when at the end, I voiced my complaint at the front desk - I met there a most polite and attentive duty manager. Overall, I'm still very satisfied and grateful to Origo for its great contribution to food education and positive impact to my city - Morelia. I reside...
