We have had the pleasure of dining here two times, the space is amazing with lots of palapa and acers of tile mosaics installed by the owner/character known as Ropi. It seems to be a favorite of the expats that stpend the winter in Pint De Mita.
It's a great space to kick back and enjoy a margarita or two, which is good as the food takes quiet some time. Plan for it and you'll be fine.
First visit we had 4 local dishes, Ropi liked the tequila I ordered so he brought one for him to toast with, later he was making the same pilgrimage to another table. He was very happy, and we all loved it.
The second time was pizza for lunch, pizza was very good, crust was thin with a sesame flavor. Toppings were good, sauce better. the place is very quiet at lunch which made the LONG wait for pizza a bit frustrating.
All in, we recommend this restaurant and Ropi, just plan for the time, order as soon as you know what you are having and enjoy cocktails, chips, guacamole, and salsa unti you...
Read moreDecent food. Thin crust, cracker-style pizza. Complaints when I ordered the salad instead of fries, and it was pathetic... And I had to ask for dressing twice before they decided they didn't have it. Ribs are good, beer is cold. Stray cats will beg at your table, and dogs are allowed to be in the restaurant - so of you are not comfortable eating with animals around, you may want to avoid. The bill is always padded, so check and double check your menu prices. When owner says she raised the prices, stand your ground - she says that to everyone and has never changed the menu.
The music on Friday nights is quite good - acoustic jazz guitar, with guest musicians sometimes. If nothing else, it's definitely worth a few cold beers and listening to the gentleman play jazz for awhile.
Oh.... And the art is amazing. Murals, mosaics, paintings... Most of it by the owner. Absolutely worth taking...
Read moreWe cannot rate this restaurant high enough. We had dinner here on two nights and lunch once. Let’s start with the gorgeous exterior where all the tiles were hand painted by the owner and placed in a beautiful mosaic. That beauty extends to the interior where there is open air dining. We sat at a table for four in an elevated nook that overlooked the dining area.
Gracia was the host and our server. She shared her family’s story with us and was genuine, friendly and funny. Her warmth only added to our experience. The food was spectacular as well. Although we did not have a bad meal at any of the restaurants on restaurant row, from an overall standpoint Casa Del Pintor stood out from the rest. If you get the chance check it out. It is truly a gem.
Gracias por una maravillosa comida y...
