Food is ok..ish.. but if we start talking about service we start talking about all the things wrong with this place. For it claiming to be the best place in town I had my expectations up.... little did I know that the best was gonna become the worst nightmare of my vacation. I asked for their signature dish: the fried “huachinango”(red snapper) which they promised it would blow my mind... the only thing that blew today was the chef’s skill as after about 30 minutes of waiting the waiter came to say that the dish had been burnt and I would have to wait another 30 minutes to be served. Bare in mind my whole family had already eaten and I was happily expecting my dish, so as any thoughtful patron with 2 young kids would’ve done, I had to cancel my order. The waiter in a very condescending and sarcastic way started joking with me for more than 4 times about their mistake, and instead of offering an apology, I was made fun of as some kind of clown or jester entertaining the staff instead of being treated as a paying customer. I asked to speak with the chief of staff to communicate the situation, I believe a place that supposedly is the best restaurant shouldn’t have staff that diminish and talks to their guests with such lack of shame, respect and irreverence when they make a mistake, as if they didn’t charge premium prices for the location... what a shame, in summary, go spend your money in one of the many other places that actually value...
Read moreDinner here was a total disaster until Martine the general manager finally stepped up to help. Our waiter was incompetent and took 45 minutes to bring us a first round of drinks while everyone around us was having drinks, appetizers and dinner. Several people left before we got a second round of drinks an hour and a half after arrival. Despite being reminded twice he didn't get our guacamole to the table and only shortly after it did arrive dinner came so we had no time to enjoy it. Then the specialty of the house, the whole fried fish, were both overdone and even burned on one side. I suspect that he forgot them in the window and they got cold and in trying to salvage them the chef put them back into the hot oil to the point that they were overcooked.
At this point I got up to complain and ended up with Martine the general manager finishing service for us. New fish were markedly better and what we had expected from the beginning. Martine ended up giving us a small discount and a free dessert, but had the experience that we had with him been what we had from the beginning it would have been much better. I think that for this visit three stars is generous but expect that your visit would probably be much improved and worth trying. The views are indeed tremendous and the prices...
Read moreWe went for lunch on a Sunday during the La Cruz market. Since we were early we waited on the second level until noon when they opened, so we were one of the first few tables to be seated. We specifically requested a seat along the northern windows but instead were led to an interior table even though there was one table with no reserved sign on it at the windows. This really annoyed my wife who, after sitting for a few moments, went up to the hostess to again request a window seat. The waiter who sat us originally with some excuse about being busy rushed up to the hostess stand and bruskly said "where do you want to be seated?". My wife politely indicated her preferred table and he took us there directly. That was the small but annoying issue that was promptly corrected after my wife indicated her displeasure.
However, the food, service and atmosphere to excellent and we made a reservation for a window seat for the next Sunday to avoid the table issue.
We would strongly recommend this restaurant and I would have rated 5 except for the debited...
