I was really excited to try this place. It was highly recommended by a friend and photos online looked great so I had high hopes. Unfortunately it did not come near meeting them. While the service was fine, to start, we had trouble deciphering what the rolls were comprised of since the menus do not include descriptions. When we asked for more detail we were told to go to Instagram for help, which was of no use. We started with the homemade gyoza (just okay) and miso soup, which was overpowered with seaweed. I ordered a salmon lemon roll which was presented beautifully, however the rice in the roll was served so hot (with so much of it) that I could only stomach one bite. My daughter and son each ordered the tuna serrantino roll which they both thought tasted off. Sadly, they were right as my daughter ended up throwing up the entire contents of her stomach later that evening. The next day she developed a rash and hives. I’m not sure if the rash and hives were related to the sushi, but considering they developed right after our dinner there it seems likely. Unfortunately this experience will likely make sushi off limits for my daughter going forward, which was previously a favorite....

Family and I were lured in by the interesting structures outside the restaurant and its close proximity to our vacation spot.

Food: Read a review that suggested sticking to rolls based on (1) the chance to try MX+sushi crossover and (2) quality of the fish — I followed the suggestion since I’m normally being a sashimi/nigiri person and am admittedly a little picky re: point 2. Serranito and Maguro rolls had great flavors but were pretty sauce heavy — above average sauciness. Tekka roll was cut very thick and made even thicker by a high rice to fish ratio. Vegetable fried rice was taken home to tired brother who wasn’t up for fish — the salt bomb was quickly discarded.

Service: Staff appeared to be very preoccupied with fulfilling takeout orders and were rushing around the kitchen despite the restaurant not being close to full inside or outside — hoping this explains why one hostess told us that we would need to be out in less than 45 minutes. Waiter was friendly and kind when he had the chance to stop at the table.

Atmosphere: Outside is far more impressive than the inside. Too bad we were...

This is a place my wife and I have been going to for years. Always had great service and great food. Recently, they brought in new management. At first it seemed OK, but we did notice some 'corner cutting.' Less ginger, less sauce and unlabeled soy sauce, different flavors to the food. We have never had any issues, but my wife and I both got very sick from eating there lately. We did not eat anywhere else that day. The original manager was very nice, but maybe too nice to the point they saw he was losing them profits like the 2 for 1 sushi roll promo for deliveries. We will not be going there again after 3 years of going weekly. If you do go, try to only get cooked fish; nothing raw. I would give 1 star, but will give it 2 because for years it was a great place to eat. Go at...

I was very excited to try this place here, as I had such phenomenal experiences in Cabo; however, I spent the better part of yesterday night and the entirety of today with VIOLENT food poisoning. Why 4 stars, then? Sushi was delicious in terms of flavor: dynamite scallop dish was phenomenal, but the salmon was questionable (I'm pretty sure that's what did me in), rolls were very flavourful. Stick to more local sashimi and maybe this problem could be avoided... Overall, I'm a disappointed re the salmon as our server personally recommended it (I'm from BC, so I have pretty high standards when it comes to salmon). The drinks were wonderful and beautifully crafted. Service was top-notch as was the atmosphere/decor outside. You can watch the fish in the pond while dining.

One of my favorite dishes... i look forward to visiting each year, simply for this dish. What I also love is the conversation afterwards with my wife about the quality of the service... it's one of perfect balance, you never want for anything, your drink is always full yet it's never an annoyance... if you need something, you merely need to look up and soon you will be in eye contact with someone who is promptly attending to you... this is a beautiful place with grwst food and an attentive staff. If they can't satisfy you, then I guarantee, you are a miserable soul.

Hotel quality sushi basically. Nicksan prides itself at being a high quality Asian food restaurant but since years ago that I went and now. Nothing has changed for the better. The food is bland, boring and very salty. The service is non existent with a lot of waiters all chit chatting and looking somewhere else. The restaurant is falling every time I visit there is water dripping from the ceiling. The chairs are nasty and napkins are old. Try something else.
