Ok, so this is the second time we've been and to be fair neither occurence would be during what I would normal times. The first was right as COVID shut down everything and Nuevo Nayarit was almost empty of tourists. This time was during Spring Break and staffing issues are still a problem. I will still try it once more to see if things get better.
That being said, this last experience certainly did not meet expecting. We had reservations for seven, made two days in advance for 7pm. We arrived on time and made our way inside where after a short delay were able I'd our reservation and request a table on the terrace. We were sat promptly, and then waited, and waited until finally our waiter wandered over and asked if we knew how the restaurant worked (yes a la carte at the counter inside) and point to QR code on the paper napkin dispenser for the menu. We had to request the WIFI connection in order to access the menu and even the QR code just sent you to a web page where you had to find the link to the menu. The menu is pretty straight forward, select a cut of meat at the counter and the amount you want. We ordered drinks before we headed inside.
At the counter we stumbled through what everyone wanted (actually fun) and headed back outside. We waited, and waited, and the drinks finally appeared. I asked about ordering our sides and water said he would return to take our orders. 20 minutes later he came back and worked through the selections. He seemed surprised at the amount we ordered and we asked if it was too much. He implied it was (it wasn't. Each side will serve two people) and we adjusted our order.
Then we waited, and waited, and waited. Our side dishes appeared (finally) and it was clear we should have stayed with our original order but OK. After another 10 or so minutes our steaks came out. By that time all our sides were cold but that was OK they matched the steaks which were cold as well. We went ahead and ate a very tasty but disappointingly cool dinner.
After another long wait the waiter came to clear the table. Then we sat and sat. No one asked if we wanted anything else. I finally flagged down the waiter and asked for the bill which came 5 minutes later. I was paying by card so the waiter had me follow him so we could track down the chef who is apparently the only one who can process credit cards. I did have a very pleasant conversation with the chef where I expressed my appreciation with the taste of the food and my disappointment with the service and the temperature of the food.
Let's be clear here. The restaurant was busy but hardly slammed, maybe 7 or 8 groups and a couple of 4 tops. They had 5 wait staff on so service shouldn't have been an issue. The concept of the restaurant is cool but execution was...
Read moreThis is a phenomenal place to satisfy your beef cravings. Since there is much confusion to the structure of this place, I will run you through how this place works. First you come in and the wait staff will assign you some seats. You will then go on to the far end of the restaurant. There you will tell the butchers what cut of beef you would like and they will ask how you want it done (medium, rare, etc). The prices of the cuts of beef will be displayed on the TV next to you. Prices are listed per 250g which is close to 8oz. Then you will take that steak they cut to the front counter and there you will decide what sides you would like (which are also displayed on the tv). After that the staff will cook the order. You will have various salsas and beans as an appetizer waiting for you at your table.
My Porterhouse here was cooked to a perfect medium rare, and the portobello mushrooms were fantastic. The service was great. I will definately be back here when I am in Puerta...
Read moreWe are here the last time we were in PV. Liked it so much we came two days in a row. The place was very busy. We came back on Feb 2,2024. Place was dead, we were slowly seated, out came the bean soup and salad before we ordered drinks, then we ordered drinks, then a while later we ordered food, 20 minutes later our drinks came and then an hour later our chicken and arrachera molcajete came. The chicken was dry and cold, the beef way overdone and not warm, corn was good, onions were good. We sat outside, another couple who left shortly after we had ordered, their table was covered In dirty dishes almost until we left, and our unfinished salad was cleared by the waiter but left on a tray behind another customer’s table. Not a great experience. It’s too bad cause I was looking forward to it. Another reviewer mentioned a dry burger bun, I bet it was not as dry as our chicken. The servers were nice but something wasn’t functioning, maybe it was just our waiter who seemed...
